Technical Program Manager - Backbone Network Reliability

Location: Menlo Park, California
Interface with Engineering and business owners to evaluate network reliability in terms of traffic at risk of packet drops, latency, and path redundancy.
Interface and partner with IP and Optical Transport Engineering teams to understand network design in terms of network reliability and redundancy.
Drive discussions among cross-functional teams including Network Planning, Engineering, Operations, and Implementation to assess and prioritize network risk and develop mitigation plans.
Collaborate with Network Deployment teams to scope out the implementation of risk mitigation plans.
Build a feedback loop between various cross-functional teams (Planning, IP Engineering, Optical Engineering, Operations, Network Software/Systems Engineering) to identify, quantify, and address network risks.
Help define metrics for measuring backbone reliability and work with partner teams to improve them.
Provide hands-on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases. Communicate and report on current risks, mitigation plan and track executions of these programs.

Minimum Qualifications
B.S. in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
Five or more years of experience in either planning, engineering, operations, network reliability engineering (NRE), Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) on a nationwide or global backbone network.
Three years of experience with protocols such as TCP/IP, IS-IS/OSPF, BGP, and MPLS
Three years of experience in using tools to monitor capacity utilization and network health, and participating in design and risk mitigation discussions.
Proven leadership & influence skills to motivate program teams and get things done in a fast-paced environment.
Superior Interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a diverse, cross-functional team.
Effective Communication skills.
Ability to pick-up and build on Program Management Skills and knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a network/site reliability planning, engineering, and/or operations role.
Built tools that help visualize traffic utilization, assess risk to traffic, test failure scenarios and generate mitigation plans.
RSVP-TE, QoS, SNMP, syslog, netflow/sflow
Understand network operator grade longhaul network topology design.
Optical DWDM knowledge is a plus
Python or any other high level programming language
Program Management experience in highly cross-functional and large scale and large impact Network Infrastructure programs.
