Position: AR Coating Equipment Engineer

Position Purpose:
Install and manage AR coater equipment in manufacturing facility
•To take the lead to continuously improve equipment and process to maximize the equipment efficiency
•To solve difficult technical, engineering related problems to meet plant target.
•Provides subject matter expertise in mechanical and equipment aspect and drive to fundamental process understanding.
•To transfer automated equipment technology and process from division to plant operation
•To work in parallel with the AR coater equipment supplier to safely install, debug and conduct SAT
•To ensure and complete Job Safety Analyses for new equipment introductions.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
•Initially: Support installation and equipment setup of new AR coater production system.
•Verify equipment print packages, installation and safety requirements for the AR coating system
•Participate in equipment design reviews, build and training at vendor facility
•Troubleshoot and quickly resolve issues in production equipment and use hands-on approach to solve problems and improve equipment based on fundamental understanding
•Interface and provide equipment support to equipment suppliers during install and debug of AR coater equipment and supporting equipment
•Provide analytical and problem-solving support and guidance to manufacturing when needed to ensure timeline and deliverables stay on track.
•Report out the issues with professional data analysis and clear logical process.
•Establish and update system SOS/PM/SOP as needed and ensure all procedures are properly written and followed.
•Equipment downtime analysis and improvement to maximize equipment efficiency.
•Develop training materials and provide training to others.
•Identify, justify and run cost reduction and capacity improvement projects.
•Design, specify, install, debug new equipment or modify existing equipment to continuously improve system reliability and lower maintenance cost.
•Ensure mechanical/electrical drawings, operation manuals and software packages are archived properly within the plant.
•Periodic weekend and shift coverage may become a requirement
•Interface with other workstream equipment leads to understand and implement low cost, friendly solutions for AI product portfolio
•Support site preparation, installation, SAT, Start-up and Early Production Coverage
•Work in cross functional teams and apply traditional project methodologies to meet Team goals.
•Measure and communicate performance against established objectives
•Review and interpret data to make recommendations on immediate actions, long term corrective actions, follow-up experiments, etc.

Education:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering, ideally mechanical, however electrical and other engineering related areas may be considered.
•3~5 + years hands on equipment design/installation or manufacturing environment.

Required Skills:
•Pro/E, AutoCad or Solid work is a must. Understanding of equipment mechanical and control.
•Fix problem with timing, cost saving, data-driven, and detail oriented.
•Familiar with problem solving and statistic data analysis methodology.
•Use rigorous processes and data to solve problems. Uses a systematic approach to drive to root cause understanding of problems to assure validity of corrective actions.
•Can work independently by him/herself and also work well within team group.
•Quality concept and tool.
•Skill in software of Windows Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
•Report and presentation skill.
•Good English communication skill.
•Safety awareness.

Desired Skills:
Skill in electrical controls: such as Inverter, Servo motor, Sensor, etc.
Skill in pneumatics controls applications: such as vacuum generator, cylinder, solenoid valve, regulator, filters, etc.
Process integration experience
Skill in working with automated handling systems.
Project management skill.
Experience in implementing DMAIC methodology and leading 6-sigma project.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese.
Knowledge of Mitsubishi PLC, PC controls is plus.
FANUC Robot Operate skill is plus.
Skill in Excel VBA, VB, C++ is plus.
Device design, fabrication experience with direct hands-on experience

Travel Requirements:
•Estimate travel up to 50% depending upon specific project assignment. Travel will be required during installation, debug, and start-up as well as for routine interaction with Customers and Suppliers. This would be a combination of domestic and international travel. International travel would most commonly be to Asia or Europe.

Must be open to international travel and have valid passport.

Safety: Safety shoes will be reimbursed. Hard hats and ear protection will be provided as needed. Will not reimburse for prescription safety eyeglasses.
