Laboratory Technician Assistant

Primary function of this position will be to perform physical testing, chemical testing, and microbiological sampling in support of the site QA/QC program by completing data analysis of finished product, work-in-process, chemicals and raw materials.

Supports plant achievement of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and meeting internal regulatory requirements.

Establishes and implements testing and inspection procedures.

Audits testing results to determine if product specifications are met.

Advises operating units on quality control standards for raw materials, chemicals, packaging materials, and finished products.

Recommends corrective action where necessary and develops plant quality control manuals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: --
Perform microbiological sampling and inspection of raw materials, in-process and finished product in accordance with the Quality plan and standard procedures.

Approve materials based on test results. -- Analyzes ingredients and finished product using facility's testing procedures and protocols (i.e. Ether extract, Acid hydrolysis, Atomic Absorption Spectrometry, NIR, Stat-Fax, Convection Oven, Spectronic 20D+, Aqua Lab Aw Meter, Nitrogen combustion method, and Muffle Furnace at 600 deg. C).

Approve materials based on test results.

Maintains accurate, up-to-date and concise laboratory notebooks and records; maintains databases for recording test results and communicates results as needed to Corporate Quality.

Communicates with suppliers about testing procedures, data results and analysis; maintains up-to-date knowledge of testing procedure requirements and works with outside supplier to solve testing issues as they arise.

Conducts aseptic microbiological sampling.

Responsible for maintaining equipment and equipment calibrations.

Analyzes inter and intra lab variation (Control Charting, etc.).

Conducts training as required for new employees and technicians in statistical concepts, Micro sampling, NIR and Mycotoxins.

Cross-trains to support daily functions within the Department; participates on cross-functional teams; researches new methods and equipment through the participation of various projects.

Manage special Quality and continuous improvement projects for facility.

Skill/Experience/Education
Mandatory:

4 Year Degree in chemistry or similar field of study.
Steel toed safety shoes.
Desired:

Prefered candidate will have actual corp/professional lab experience
