As a member of our development group, you will become an expert in the entire product workflow and instrumentation, characterizing and improving our products. To accomplish this you will take on the following responsibilities:
Apply engineering, statistics, and scientific theory to evaluate Illumina NGS Products.
Participate in development of consumables, assay automation processes to accomplish development and product goals.
Conduct screening and troubleshooting experiments to assess the technical capability and performance of assay, robotic, fluidic, sensor, and instrumentation sub-systems and systems, collaborating with senior engineers and scientists.
Execute automated chemistry testing protocols, analyze and interpret results, and communicate results and their impact to the project and the customer through written reports, design reviews, and interactive discussions.
Execute hardware/software integration testing, performance characterization, requirements analysis, test design, test execution, defect and customer complaint root cause investigations, and risk and hazard analysis.
Perform prototype acceptance testing to evaluate and improve design ideas from external teams.
Collect user feedback and issues into design proposals to improve product design.
Develop documentation for transfer of final, tested designs to sustaining and field teams.
Contribute ideas for development, support other functional teams in development efforts.

2-3 years of experience in product development, medical device development, test engineering, field service, or relevant industry experience
Experience with fluidic handling, control systems, and wet chemistry systems for Sample Preparation
Experience with Programming, including languages such as C, C#, R, Python.
Experience with Biological Assays, comfortable working in a BSL-2 Environment
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, experience with statistical analysis techniques and packages
Demonstrated knowledge and application of fundamental engineering concepts
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Comfortable asking questions, raising concerns, and engaging in technical dialog in new and uncharted fields
Clinical development and/or manufacturing background is highly desirable (ISO 13485, ISO9001, GXP)
Development Experience with Liquid Handlers or other Diagnostic Sample Preparation Instruments
Prior experience with medical diagnostic system verification and validation
Hands-on experience with robotics and control systems
Experience with NGS Sample Preparation Methods, and NGS Sequencing
Comfortable with 3D modeling CAD packages, such as Solidworks, Autocad, or equivalent
