Entry Level Maintenance Technician

This will be a rotating shift 40 hours per week (4 on 4 off, rotating shifts per the Maintenance Schedule)


The Entry Level Maintenance Technician (IPTF) safety and efficiently assists trades people in the performance of their work in any way needed to complete the tasks quickly and efficiently. The incumbent may also be assigned to work independently on tasks or on various pieces of equipment within their scope of skills and knowledge and assigned facilities located within the City of Edmonton Waste Management Centre (EWMC). Assigned Waste Services' contracted facilities include the Integrated Pre-processing and Transfer Facility (IPTF), Refuse Derived Fuels (RDF) and Construction and Demolition (C&D) Facilities. All work performed is to be in accordance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and permitting requirements while achieving target KPIs. KPIs include safety, productivity, and quality of work performed. Incumbent is required to work shifts as determined by the company. The Maintenance Technician is required to perform Safety Sensitive duties and responsibilities.

1.Execute preventative maintenance tasks related to lubrication.
2.Responsible for the storage and maintenance and inventory of all lubrication related equipment. (Oil polisher, grease guns, injectors)
3.Responsible for stocking and keeping inventory of lubrication.
4.Responsible to ensure all grease and lubrication points on equipment is in good, functional condition.
5.May be required to install plumbing and piping systems related to lubrication.
6.Maintains plant machinery, equipment which may include conveyors throughout the facility.
7.Troubleshoots mechanical problems with plant machinery and equipment and repairs as necessary
8.Carries out regular PMs on the above mentioned equipment including cleaning.
9.Works assigned shifts as scheduled. May be required to work authorized overtime to maintain facility production.
10.Supports other initiatives of the Plant to promote a healthy and positive work environment and enhance employee morale and engagement.
11.Assist with other duties (Fire watch, shore watch, equipment operation, etc.)
12.Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements:Formal Education Required:
    •High School Diploma.

    Applicable Experience Required:
    •Minimum of six (6) months' related experience.
    •Experience repairing industrial equipment.
    •Experience with SAP or a similar computerized maintenance management system will be considered an asset.
    •Previous experience in an industrial process plant environment is a definite asset.

    Special Training/Certificates Required:
    •In-house training on the quality systems, quality regulations, and safe work practices (including WHMIS).
    •In-house training on Corporate policies.
    •Respectful Workplace Training.
