Scope of Position:
Serve as the technical lead on measurements related projects for OCS Division Engineering. Additionally, design and lead evaluation of new technology related to the measurement and inspection of OCS products. Also, coordinate with development and manufacturing teams in the development, installation, and startup of new technology or products.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
•Lead team of measurement and software engineers in the evaluation and development of automated manufacturing measurement systems and equipment to improve process performance, assure product quality, and support manufacturing capacity forecasts.
•Manage project timelines, budgets, and scopes to meet project objectives.
•Work closely with experienced professionals and a variety of cross functional groups (manufacturing, development, engineering, etc.) to define, develop and implement product measurement and instrumentation systems.
•Transfer technology from early stage development to a product ready for installation in a manufacturing environment.
•Develop and apply measurement system analysis techniques to ensure proper measurement system application.
•Leverage external suppliers with key technologies or systems integration expertise to develop, order, procure, build, checkout and install measurement systems in Corning's Optical Communications global production facilities.
•Assure quality and repeatability of processes and products.
•Assure a safe work place for employees (e.g. safety checklists, safety training, etc.)

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
•40+ hours/week

Required Education:
•BS, MS, PhD in Electro Mechanical, Electrical, Metrology Engineering or related field

Required Years and Area of Experience:
•3-5 years engineering experience in measurements engineering related field

Required Skills:
Working knowledge of test equipment used to characterize various fiber optic assemblies. This can include, but is not limited to equipment capable of measuring optical power loss, attenuation (OTDR), interferometers, and microscopy equipment.
•Knowledgeable on the equipment, software, and methods for precision dimensional, coordinate, and surface metrology as it relates to fiber optic connectivity.
•Working knowledge of national and international standards and guidelines for dimensional, surface, and coordinate metrology and measurement uncertainty.
•Experience with Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Measurement Uncertainty Analysis.
•Ability to effectively communicate with internal customers to understand metrology requirements and deliver results that are effectively interpreted and applied.
•People management skills (people development, performance evaluation, staffing, etc,).
•Able to manage, prioritize, and deliver on a portfolio of projects and group initiatives.
•Ability to make sound technical decisions within and outside area of expertise.
•Ability to work effectively on all levels of an organization.
•Ability to work in technical project teams in leadership and team member roles.
•Implementation of technical programs according to their priorities and action plans.
•General computer and networking knowledge.
•Strong communication and presentation skills.

Desired Skills:
•Bilingual in Spanish and English


Working knowledge of Matlab, Minitab, or other mathematical/statistical analysis tools.
•Knowledge of calibration methods for physical / dimensional / optical measurement equipment Experience with Optical Connectivity products and processes.
•Knowledge of the application of measurement uncertainty for manufacturing product conformance testing and risk analysis.
•Knowledge of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5-2009.
•Knowledge of precision metrology equipment performance verification methods.
•Experience in a plant or division engineering organization.
•Experience coaching and mentoring technical employees.
•Performance excellence training (Green Belt).
•Experience with MEE.
