 The Lighting and Display Technology Division of Rambus located in Brecksville, OH is seeking an intern to support the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering functions within the Operation Department.  This position is open to students with science and engineering backgrounds with Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering being the preferred discipline.  Work hours are flexible around student class schedules and typically 20 hours per week.  The candidate must be motivated and have excellent problem solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects. 


  Essential Functions:  



 Participate in the establishment of QM Systems and Control Plans including conducting assessments to identify gaps and recommendation of corrective actions.

 Assist in the development of procedures and tools in support of in-line inspection of molded and finished lightguides.

 Document standard operating procedures for critical manufacturing processes.

 Assist in the development of raw material and product specifications.

 Conduct statistical data analysis including assessment of manufacturing process capabilities and communication of recommendations and conclusions.

 Participate in the creation of final production inspection procedures and database generation using various pieces of lab equipment.

 Assist in developing 3D CAD Models, 2D drawings and all related documentation required for product specifications and tooling.

 Work with manufacturing team to identify and conduct experiments to refine process control parameters for molding machines and support equipment.

 Conduct process flow and manufacturing time studies in support of continuous improvement projects.

 Use Office/Project Management software (Word, Excel, Project, etc.) to report project progress


  Applicable experience:      


 3D CAD software with SolidWorks preferred

 Manufacturing or production support

 Basic understanding of Quality Control and Quality Assurance principles

 Injection molded plastics

 LED lighting




  Additional Information :

 Rambus seeks intern in their sophomore or junior year from an engineering background, preferably Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering who can work approximately 20 hours around their class schedule while school is in session and throughout the summer.  We like to work and mentor with the same student until they graduate. 


 Our core competencies center on the creation of application specific optical patterns which are ultimately molded into light guides.  When assembled into an LED light fixture, the lightguide extracts and guides light as required to meet customer specification.
