Technical Business Analyst 2
General Position Overview:
Summary: The role of the Technical Business Analyst is to perform interviews and research to determine IT business requirements and translate them into specifications for complex technical projects.
Education, Experience, Job Training:
? Associate?s Degree or Bachelor?s Degree in Information Technology, Business Systems, Computer Technology or a related technical discipline is highly desirable (Associates degree can be substituted for 2 years required experience; Bachelors degree can substitute for 4 years related experience - see below).
? Level 2 - 9-11+ years of wokr experience in Business Analysis/Computer/Information Technology or a directly-related field (7-9 years with Associates; 5-7 years with Bachelors)
? Demonstrated analyst experience using technical produce life cycle concepts and requirements engineering. Experience should be consistent with requirements of Business Analysis/Information Technology and progressively more technical in nature.
Typical Tasks may include but are not limited to:
? Develop business process models and documentation.
? Develop, define, and build technology bias business cases that will enable business and technology change.
? Implement workflow across the organization.
? Recommend technology solutions to improve business decision-making with a focus on the core systems, technology strategies and standards.
? Conduct analysis of business issues and challenges.
? Participate in business process and technology initiatives to improve business performance.
? Act as liaison and participate in defining technology solutions to solve complex, multidisciplinary business problems with long-term implications.
? Document functional specifications, conversions, upgrades, interfaces, reports, forms, and workflow.
? Facilitate group meetings.
? Work with end-users to define and executing test scenarios and ensure appropriate end user training.
? Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients across all levels of the organization.
? Develop and review audit and control processes to facilitate optimal service performance and operational integrity.
? Deal with workload peaks without compromising standards.
? Develop and support a knowledge management culture within the organization
? Carry out assigned tasks in a professional demeanor reflected in excellent written and oral communication skills, listening skills, patience, analytical reasoning and problem solving abilities.
? Keep abreast of technology advances, upgrades and the latest trends in best practices.
? Strong written and verbal communication. Understand and follow established processes and procedures including Change Management, Work Tracking and Time Management.
? Provide a sustainable IT infrastructure by supplying cross training and functional documentation.
? Balancing technology and business issues as well as communicating appropriately with both technology and business experts.
? Provide support to the Infrastructure Systems Analyst to assist in identifying gaps in infrastructure services
? Understanding the relationship between an application and the technical services it relies on.
? Defining an application?s portfolio of dependant services and technical needs.
? Determining the difference between an application and dependant software.
? Working with stakeholders to gather requirements geared towards upgrading to current technology and migrating to new infrastructure.
? Auditing existing source(s) of record for application information to determine validity of data and make recommendations to correct.
? Negotiating priorities and resolving requirement conflicts among various stakeholders.
? Developing data flow models to define interdependencies between other applications.
Specific Skill Requirements:
? Analysis experience in developing new infrastructures utilizing emerging technology.
? Energy/utility industry experience.
? Skill in Facilitation, Technical Interviewing, Negotiation, Written communication Presentation and Technology Management.
? Able to effectively communicate with team members, customers and end users to ensure deliverables meet requirements and deadlines.
? Organizational skills with the ability to develop and execute a detailed work plan to ensure project success.
? System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes, including: requirements, use cases, business cases, process diagrams, systems design, project plans, and production support guides
? Path to production software deployment processes.
? Strong technical writing and the ability to present information in various forms such as textual, graphical and statistical.
