.5 to 4+ years of electrical engineering experience
Bachelor?s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field required

General Position Overview ? Engineer:
Provides professional engineering expertise in assisting project manager and other engineering personnel in implementing projects, supporting field maintenance crews and other related engineering activities.

RESPONSIBLILITIES:
? Provides planning support, coordinates plans of service with stakeholders, and implements plans for assigned projects.
? Prepares detailed design, material, or procurement specifications for assigned projects, ensuring that technical tradeoffs have been considered, and decisions conform to existing policies and standards and are within budgetary constraints.
? Prepares engineering designs or assists in developing engineering requirements for the development, installation and modifications of existing facilities.
? Provides technical support to construction, operations, and maintenance personnel.

General Skill Requirements ? Engineer:
? Engineering degree required and practical experience. Must have knowledge of engineering concepts, principals, and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system.
? Ability to analyze and design complex installations, facilities or structures using the latest techniques and applicable standards.
? Ability to participate and perform effectively in a project team environment and effectively manage multiple work assignments and changing priorities.
? Ability to manage and provide overall coordination for the design and construction of various facilities including project scheduling and estimating.
? Ability to review and evaluate packages prepared by technicians (including drawings, material certifications, and submittals for conformance to the design specifications).
? Skill in oral and written communication to effectively fulfill stakeholder/ customer/team requirements.

Major Duties:

In addition to the duties listed on the previous page, an Electrical Engineer?s duties may include any or all of the following:

? Confer with engineers, internal customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
? Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
? Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
? Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems.
? Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
? Create electrical drawings, reports and calculations to support the engineering solutions chosen for electrical systems.
? Direct and coordinate construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
? Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish construction, and installation standards and specifications.
? Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
? Assumes responsibility for significant work components within large projects.
? May act as local project manager over projects, coordinating multi-skilled, multi-discipline work groups. Writes/reviews written work plans/functional tests.
? Performs troubleshooting and provides technical support to craft/customer personnel.
? Attends project scoping meetings or design reviews, recommends changes to specification diagrams based on technical and operational issues.
? May provide field man-hour estimates, and develop outage/transition plans to facilitate project implementation. Works with design staff during engineering phase to understand design philosophy and provide field information/valid requirements.
? Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
