Summary: Develop communications strategies and programs for groups or organizations by writing and/or preparing communications materials and releasing them through various communications media. May prepare work papers, arrange briefings, and make presentations.
Education, Experience, Job Training:
? Associate Degree or equivalent experience
? Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline is highly desirable.
? 10+ years of experience required
Typical Tasks may include but are not limited to:
? Prepare or edit organizational publications for internal and external audiences.
? Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
? Plan and direct development and communication of organization's accomplishments and agenda.
? Study the objectives, policies and needs of organization to develop communications strategies.
? Confer with other managers to identify trends or key group interests or concerns or to provide advice on business decisions.
? Create, edit, review and prepare various communications relating to organizational policies, processes and concepts.
? Provide advice and guidance to executives, management, and supervisors for effective communication.
? Develop and/or coordinate communication plans; and, facilitate the communication of organizational news, policies, processes and changes.
? Arrange appearances, lectures, meetings, etc with internal / external stakeholders, for news releases, promotions, organizational announcements, etc.
? Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
? Knowledge of communication techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform via written, oral, and visual media.
? The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
? Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, including customer needs assessments.
? Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
? Knowledge of marketing strategy and tactics.
? Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
? Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
