|Position Summary: |
? This position provides engineering and operational support of The Technology Solutions and Services wireless network infrastructure, along with all associate equipment. This position will be a role within the Wireless Network Services team and take direction from the Wireless Network Services Manager.
? The Wireless Network Engineer will plan, design, stage, and configure wireless access points, switches, and controllers, and will provide escalation for monitoring and ongoing maintenance of the network. This position provides technical support and consultation and ensures 24x7 operational support and maintenance. It also involves collaboration with other network engineering teams, BU Engineering teams, and service suppliers to ensure proper alignment on projects and network deliverables.
? The Wireless Network Engineer will resolve routine issues and will develop wireless network solutions and configurations. They will also participate on selected projects and work with external vendors and internally with other Operations teams, IT Architecture teams and different Business Units.
? The wireless network infrastructure includes wireless access points, antennas, controllers, and cabling. A successful candidate has knowledge and skills necessary to select, connect, configure, and troubleshoot various wireless networking devices based on practical experience.
? Provide engineering support for wireless access points, antennas, cabling, and controllers in conjunction with assigned projects and other initiatives
? Ensure documentation and configurations are updated for wireless access points, antennas, cabling, and controllers
? Develop solution designs, conduct peer design reviews, and issue change requests to service suppliers
? Conduct and/or review wireless RF surveys and interpret results
? Perform supplier management functions such as support and maintenance interactions (e.g. maintenance windows, outages, security patches, briefings, conferences, etc.)
? Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years' industry experience with enterprise wifi networks, preferably Cisco
? Solid understanding of wifi RF characteristics and signal propagation, including experience working with predictive and active surveys using tools comparable to Airmagnet Spectrum Analyzer
? Understanding of enterprise wireless authentication methods including 802.1x, EAP, RADIUS, etc.
? Experience with wireless packet captures and analysis
? Solid understanding of switch and VLAN configurations
? Solid understanding IP networking fundamentals and ability to work with LAN network engineers
? Solid wireless network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills
? Moderate experience with Cisco Prime, WCS, or Company-(must be able to engage Cisco, Navigate when necessary and understand the use of it)
? Documentation experience (creation and maintenance). Experience with Word, Visio, and PowerPoint creating and maintaining SOPs, maintenance plans, network diagrams, etc.
? Ability to assist in the development of Bills of Material and technical statements of work
? Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal)
? Cisco Wireless Certification is a plus (CCNP, CWAP)- Must have
? Other industry wireless certification is a plus
? ITIL certification is a plus
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent exp
