JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for the leadership of the maintenance function at the facility and essential in supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operations of the Client Merchant Gases Canton, OH facility. The lead maintenance technician steers a team consisting of instrumentation & electrical technician, maintenance technicians and general plant technicians to ensure compliance with safety, maintenance, operations, quality, and all other applicable regulatory policies and procedures. The Canton, OH facility operation is 24/7 and consists of two Air Separation Units, two external nitrogen liquefiers and a hydrogen transfill station.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Safety and Regulatory Compliance
? Maintain compliance with Airgas? 12 Life Saving Rules and Safety Pledge.
? Require 100% compliance with all Client safety policy and procedures, and cGMP (current Good
? Manufacturing Practices) training and techniques to prevent lost time or serious injury to others.
? Maintain a high degree of safety by employing safe work habits.
? Maintain neat, clean and orderly plant appearance.
? Promotes and develops safe work behaviors through the use of existing policies and procedures and an emphasis on safety behavior management techniques. Where gaps are identified within existing policies and procedures, this role will use any required resources to author procedures and policies to ensure personnel and site safety.
? Provides direct coaching to improve associates safety behaviors resulting in an improved safety culture.
? Assists with safety incident investigations, including near misses, using root cause analysis leading to recommended corrective actions to eliminate recurrences.
? Assists with the development of training tools and conducts training to support AMG?s safety, regulatory, continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
? Ensures applicable regulatory (OSHA, EPA, DOT, Client) requirements are met and applicable training and recordkeeping is performed to meet departmental and location requirements.
Operations & Maintenance:
? Lead initiative to improve facility (i.e. operations, reliability, and efficiency) without direction
? Learn, understand, and contribute to the operation and maintenance of all equipment within the air separation units, liquefiers, and hydrogen transfill processes. Examples of this equipment include compressors, expanders, pumps, valves, motors, programmable logic controllers, heat exchangers, cooling towers, etc
? Guide other technicians in the maintenance of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems in accordance with manufacturer?s instructions, local work instructions and governing regulations.
? Understand and be able to monitor the safe and reliable operation of pipeline, which supplies gaseous products to customers
? Utilize computerized programs/software for purchase requisitions/orders, cylinders, preventive maintenance (PM), and other functions.
? Steer the maintenance team to complete and achieve PM compliance goals.
? Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
? Be highly knowledgeable and proficient of tools required to perform maintenance on the process equipment.
? Identify potential problems from collected data & troubleshoot process and system problems to restore reliable and efficient operation.
? Record plant readings and document plant maintenance
? Perform and manage analyzers, instrumentation and related calibration files
? Perform water treatment testing, monitoring, and optimization.
? Assist in planning and executing maintenance work and projects during plant outages.
? Supervise and completes other related duties, as assigned
? Perform quality assurance functions, as required
Hydrogen Loading Support
? Be trained and understand hydrogen tank and hydrogen transfill stations at the facility
? Qualified and be able to fill and load hydrogen tube trailers, as required.
? Perform hydrogen tube trailers filling and loading in accordance to trainings & procedures
? Ensure safe operation and maintenance practices of hydrogen system
? Perform quality assurance functions associated with hydrogen product
? Assist with loading and unloading trucks and/or trailers when required.
Business / Facility Management & Support
? Adheres to a sustainable process for maintenance of operational files and records; completes all required paperwork accurately, timely and in compliance with various company policies and procedures, to ensure full regulatory compliance.
? Promotes and contributes to the continuous improvement of all applicable safety, environmental, maintenance, quality and compliance programs.
? Assists, when necessary, in supporting the operations team to monitor and maintain the safe operation of the air separation units, liquefiers, and hydrogen transfill loading.
? Responsible overall facility management when plant manager or lead operation quality technician is unavailable.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
? High school diploma or general education degree (GED), two years technical college or military technical experience
? 5 plus years of related industry experience
? Air Separation ? Demonstrates intermediate to advanced understanding of air separation and associated technologies.
? Critical thinking ? ability to work independently to troubleshoot, diagnose & solve issues with process and plant equipment.
? Instrumentation and Electrical ? Demonstrates strong aptitude and understanding of electrical principles in practical situations involving the operation and repair of complex electrical devices.
? Mechanical aptitude - Demonstrates high proficiency and skills in mechanical systems maintenance.
? Safety and Compliance ? A fundamental understanding of all applicable regulations, laws, certifications and standards with a focus on how to achieve success in each discipline for a manufacturing environment.
? Leadership ? Candidate must have foundation to learn the leadership skills to effectively engage and work with all technicians
? Maintenance Programs & Troubleshooting - Familiar with modern maintenance programs, asset management systems and principles. Requires the use of considerable judgment to recognize plant process problems and interpret malfunctions to make decisions accordingly.
? Refrigeration - A basic understanding of refrigeration systems is a plus.
? Water Treatment ? understanding the water treatment principles and equipment is a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
? Must be able to work rotating shifts, if necessary and share on-call responsibilities with other technicians to facilitate uninterrupted plant operation.
? Must have the ability to work alone, weekends and holidays.
? Requires continuous mental and visual attention to operate equipment, make repairs and adjustments.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
? Occasionally (1-33% of work time)
? Must have reliable and appropriate transportation.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
? Requires the ability to use computer programs to effectively analyze, document and track specific initiatives and goals set by management
? Trainable in other internal computer programs and software
? Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and Google applications (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs, etc).
COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:
? Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
? Ability to write business correspondence in English.
? Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers.
? Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
? Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals using the English language.

? Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
? Trainings in Forklift, Manlift, and Crane Usage are preferred, but not mandatory
