Job Summary:
The purpose of this role is to drive membership, engagement, revenue, registration, and attendance growth through comprehensive marketing support for all Communications Society's (ComSoc) brand, membership, conferences, publications, and trainings.
The incumbent will execute all aspects of marketing: email marketing; target market segmentation; internal database selections and list rentals; digital advertising and social media marketing; collateral writing, design, and printing; website postings and online event listings; media partner acquisition; public relations and additional event exposure; budget management for each specific conference marketing campaign, as applicable. This position requires a high degree of attention to detail, exceptional marketing planning, and project management skills.
This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Membership, works closely with the Senior Marketing Manager, and has no direct reports. The role acts under minimal supervision and works very closely with ComSoc volunteers and committees.

Key Responsibilities:
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Develop an overall marketing strategy for assigned projects; produce and execute individual integrated marketing plans for each project in conjunction and coordination with Senior Marketing Manager
Develop effective messaging and value propositions that builds on ComSoc brand, brand values, and membership messaging
Develop and execute email marketing campaigns; segment data appropriately for targeted communications; write effective email copy and design creative email campaigns to drive interest
Provide timely website updates; write effective website copy
  • Drive engagement and growth across social media channels
  • Develop digital marketing strategy and deploy across various channels
Identify promotional opportunities with organization partners, conference sponsors and vendors
Identify cross-promotional opportunities within ComSoc and Client.
Analyze campaign effectiveness against agreed upon KPIs and provide regular reporting on marketing results
Conduct market research, identify industry trends, and monitor competitive industry events, products, services, and trainings
Develop media relations with local media and targeted industry publications in order to raise the profile of major ComSoc conferences
Provide creative input and work closely with the Graphic Designer on conference marketing collateral and campaigns
Develop lead capture and development opportunities
Ensure user data is captured in line with our CRM and data management strategies and that the storage and use of it complies with Data Protection laws
Work with Senior Marketing Manager on the creation, distribution, and presentation of project reports supported by campaign data

Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in marketing or a related discipline required
Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience or a combination of related training and experience (large association experience a plus)
Experience creating traditional and digital marketing campaigns and copywriting/editing
Experience managing and implementing social media strategies
Skills & Other Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with and relate to all levels, both within and outside the organization
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Strong MS Office skills (Power Point, Excel, Word), , Drupal or other web design software; marketing automation software (Marketo, Mail Chimp, Magnet Mail)
Experience with digital/social marketing tools such as Feathr, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, or similar tools
Experience with basic design tools like Canva, Adobe Spark, or similar tools
Experience marketing events, conferences, products and services in an association or technical society (preferred)
Experience with Google Analytics and other web analytics tools
Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to travel (nationally and internationally), as required
Position requires participation on conference calls that may be held during some nights and weekends.
