Facility in the heart of Denver seeks professional Outpatient Facility Coding Educator/Auditor for temp to perm. Competitive salary, great benefits once hired on. 6+ years medical coding experience assigning ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes for multi-specialty areas in the hospital/facility setting Experience with electronic and handwritten medical record documentation required. Experience with education, training, compliance, and auditing. Certification by the AHIMA or the AAPC required. CCS or CIC preferred and/or Coding/Medical Auditing certification preferred. ICD-10 recertification requirements met by applicable credentialing organization. Under general supervision, trains and educates providers, hospital and coding staff on all aspects of inpatient facility coding and documentation as it applies to the inpatient hospital/facility setting. Prepares training and presentations on applicable topics. Researches questions and issues using all available resources. Provides both oral and written direction to coders when a provider query should be sent. Creates and approves content of queries for submission to providers. Interacts with hospital staff for the purpose of documentation improvement and clarification. Performs audits to ensure documentation and coding accuracy compliance for DRG, APC, HAC, POA, and other applicable facility coding/billing submission. Provides feedback from audit results for documentation and coding quality improvement. Provides one-on-one and group documentation and coding training. Performs various coding assignments under the direction of the Education Manager. Participates in outside audit reviews with other departments including CDI and Internal Audit & Compliance for all RAC, payer, and other governmental and outside agencies. Utilizes software applications and electronic coding references to perform coding related tasks. Demonstrates advanced leadership and team building skills.
