Have a good understanding of what is BGP, how to configure BGP, know some of the attributes of BGP, and how they get used
  • OSPF, what are OSPF configurations
  • Are they familiar w/ DRs and BDRs
  • More senior engineers - - MPLFs, what are route targets, route distinguishers
  • Routing Protocols -- in some cases they know routing protocols but are not very strong so they find how strong they are at Level 2 --- how they would stand up trunk connections at Layer 2, Layer 3, what is their understanding of spanning tree.
  • Site to site or VPNs -- details of how did they configure them. what are the protocols involved.

The client is seeking a Network Engineer who will be responsible for overall oversight of a community of interest within DISA's Joint Regional Security Stacks (JRSS) to prepare that Community of Interest (COI) for migration.

In this role you will:
•Orchestrate the project end-to-end
•Analyze discovery information and determines requirements for migration; Provides gap analysis at the start of the project; Directs team members and reviews results
•Deconflict inconsistencies between engineering implementation plans (EIPs ) and directs changes to EIP authors
•Maintain current network diagram for COI/Base (end-to-end)
•Controls all variables and allocations e.g. IP Addresses, VLANs, VRFs, shims, process IDs, etc.
•Define migration requirements to Tools and CND teams; this includes acceptable deadlines tracked by PM
•Tracks task status against ASI schedule and adjust implementations as required.

• Senior Positions : Typically requires BS degree and 12 - 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 - 13 years of prior relevant experience.
• Entry Level Positions: Typically requires BS and 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience.

Required Qualifications
Two of the following:
•Cisco MPLS. (Multi Protocol Label Switching)
•BGP routing. (Border Gateway Protocol)
•Experienced with in-depth protocol analysis with tools such as tcpdump.

Additionally, each of the below are required:
•Experience in leading large engineering projects.
•Leadership skills in organizing a team of engineers
•DoD 8570 IAT2 certification
•SECRET Security clearance
