  • Client company, is looking for a Construction Superintendent with experience working at Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE NNSA) Sites.
  • The Construction Superintendent is responsible for field operations on the assigned project(s) in order to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. Plans, organizes, and supervises construction work for small to medium construction projects. Responsible for the construction scheduling of the construction related activities of the subcontractors to confirm the completion of contractual construction activities. Maintains continuity of job progress and maximizes efficiencies related to the project.
Job Duties:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Security Clearance is required.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the following project work activities: HVAC systems, plumbing, controls, fire protection, and commercial electrical systems. Site earthwork and layout, concrete flatwork and foundation, structural steel, steel and wood framing, interior finishes, millwork, and roofing,
  • Responsible for overall supervision of construction effort, which includes: productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, materials management, scheduling, engineering, and contractual performance of the project.
  • Responsible for ensuring contractual subcontractor compliance on designated construction related activities.
  • Ability to conduct work in a manner that minimizes interference with active client manufacturing operations possibly within and around the project site.

Experience working at and managing the work conditions, security restrictions, prohibited and controlled items, coordinating security processes and badging for project personnel executing construction activities within DOE NNSA Security Areas including experience coordinating construction in the following areas:
  • General Access Areas – Coordinate construction work within Federal property areas not requiring badging but requiring safety and security obligations applicable to a Department of Energy (DOE) Site.
  • Property Protection Areas – Coordinate construction work within Federal property areas requiring work by U.S. Citizens only, DOE badged personnel only, limited vehicle access and requiring security inspection of all equipment and vehicles entering these areas.
  • Limited Areas – Coordinating construction worth withing Federal Property areas with requirements in addition to Property Protection Areas having added security or administrative escort requirements provided by the DOE NNSA Site, special training requirements specific to the area and limited access restrictions.
  • Build effective client and subcontractor relationships. Interface closely with client representatives including client management, inspection, safety and quality personnel.
  • Maintain efficient interaction with Engineer of Record to facilitate material submittal completion and timely response to Requests for Information.
  • Collaborate with project management to develop and implement project procedures, working documents, and standards.
  • Authorize purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc., under supervision of Construction Manager and Project Manager.
  • Responsible for overall project safety. Reviews and audits site specific safety documentation, including Pre-Task Analysis (PTAs) and Task Safety Observations (TSOs) on a regular basis. Experience with the requirements for worker safety and health General Provisions and Program Requirements established by the DOE in 10 CFR 851.
  • Complete daily field reports and take daily pictures to document construction progress.
  • Assess future work activities and identify any concerns with work plans by utilizing subcontractors 3-week look ahead report.
  • Develop, lead and present periodic project updates to projet team and other project stakeholders including daily and weekly presentations as needed.
  • Develop a marked-up and as-built set of drawings to produce the record set documents, and answer RFIs with assistance from Assistant Project Manager or Field Engineer.
  • Direct and manage subcontractor as necessary to comply with the established project schedule, and track and verify subprogress on an installed quantity and work hour basis.
  • Oversee the construction of complete buildings and/or structures.
  • Read, interpret, and understand civil, foundation, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Experience working inside of a government regulating facility, strong experience in building HVAC systems, and general building TI and remodel.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years construction management experience or craft supervision experience on similar projects.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, strong leadership skills, and a strong safety background.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  • Must be able to meet company's driving requirements.
