Technologist 2 – Critical Care
The Technologist role supports R&D Engineers in key technical tasks for development projects.  This position is part of the value engineering group for Critical Care Operations Engineering.
The Technologist will help to accomplish the redesigning of established products for greater value and lower cost. This person will perform test method development to establish the device performance. This person will collaborate within a cross-functional team to define and accomplish the prototyping and technical feasibility testing of proposed designs, the verification of product performance, and tooling aides for increased manufacturing productivity.
Key responsibilities include: 
  • Responsibility to support design projects for established products targeted to add value, stay current with regulatory requirements, and proactively pre-empt obsolescence.
  • Create 2D drawings from 3D CAD models of design & GD&T principles
  • Tolerance analysis for mating parts
  • Familiar with rapid and traditional prototyping of design features for assessment and comparison
  • Testing of prototypes with both established test methods and the development of new test methods to characterize design concepts
  • Performing Design Verification testing as defined in approved protocols and good documentation practices
  • Support facility, equipment , product, process  validations, troubleshooting and ongoing improvements
  • Presenting test results and producing reports
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is preferred. Other technical degrees or significant design/test experience will be considered.
A minimum of 2 years of experience is required for the Technologist 2 level. Other levels of experience will be considered.
Candidate must demonstrate proficiency with 3D CAD modeling and good CAD design practice. Experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the early product development process and creation of new design concepts.
Must be able to work with limited supervision, think critically, and communicate effectively.
Understanding of engineering fundamentals, and an ability to deconstruct real world issues into root engineering causes.
Knowledge of statistics and the application of statistical tools, such as DOE is preferred.
