Epic Application Analyst

  • Under the supervision of a Lead and applications management, the primary responsibility is to provide design and build expertise in multiple Epic product specific applications. Develops, upgrades, and supports the Epic application, ensuring consistent documentation standards. Knowledge transfer with co-workers and client base is a key function of the position. Exhibits a learning approach in achieving knowledge proficiency in Epic from a functional and build perspective. Consistently utilizes critical thinking and analytic abilities in seeking and resolving issues. Provide knowledge of end user workflows with an understanding of the inputs/outputs from an end user and patient perspective.

  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.  Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead).  Networks with key contacts outside of area of expertise.
  • Provides assistance to other staff with complex tasks that require considerable judgment and initiative.
  • May escalate difficult/complex issues to supervisor/manager for resolution, as deemed necessary.
  • Mentor other staff as applicable.
  • Broadly encompassing or highly in-depth knowledge of at least 2 areas of focus in Epic application specialty area(s)
  • Experience implementing and supporting multiple Epic environments and full-cycle implementations
  • Advanced knowledge of operations, systems and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation
  • Knowledge of quality tools and experience in business or clinical process improvement initiatives 
  • Past participation in an implementation of an activity or strategy in a department, hospital or system environment 
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively train, support, and collaborate productively with end users, and key stakeholders at all professional and technical levels 
  • Advanced skills or experience demonstrating application of system design standards 
  • Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Assist with various projects as assigned by a direct supervisor.

  • Bachelor degree in business or health care related field or equivalent job experience plus 2+ years of experience in Information Technology or Services. 5+ years' Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience can be substituted in lieu of degree
  • 2+ Epic Certifications
  • Multiple EMR systems knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of the configuration relationships between sub-systems, applications, modules, etc.
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience working with interfaced/integrated multi-vendor applications 
  • Experience working with clinical information systems or system implementation teams for complex projects and/or application development 
  • 8 – 12 years' related experience; or a Master's degree with 6 years' experience; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent directly related work experience.
