Description:
We seek a technical writer to work on various projects, supporting members of a busy technical writing department. Must be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple documentation assignments is critical.

MUST HAVE SKILLS:
  • 6+ years of Technical writing experience.
  • DITA experience.
  • Authoring in XML editor, documentum content management system.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage their own tech writing projects.
  • Solid experience with authoring software(adobe FrameMaker, Acrobat,etc).
Nice to have skills
  • Knowledge of financial systems, payment networks and U.S.-based corporate audit management.
  • Experience with video editing software (Premiere, etc.) and great video design sensibilities.
  • Experience with graphics editing software (Illustrator, PhotoShop, etc.).
  • Understanding of and experience in documenting APIs/SDKs.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
Roles and responsibilities
  • This role is open as a contractor converted and they are back filling their role.
  • This is a traditional tech writer role.
  • The will be converting old doc set to DITA.
  • This contractor will be moved around from project to project as they will be handling multiple projects at once.
Education/ Experience:
  • 6 years of technical writing and documentation project management experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in Information Systems, English, Journalism, Communications, or related technology-focused field.
Responsibility level:
  • Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor.
  • Work with existing team members to support current and future projects.
  • Work directly with cross-functional team to gather requirements and deliver technical documentation.
Required Skills:
  • Experience writing topic-based content (DITA experience preferred).
  • Expert proficiency with both written and verbal communication, for both business and technical audiences.
  • Expert ability to work independently and manage one's time
  • Highly driven, enthusiastic, eager, collaborative, and resourceful.
  • Expert customer service, analytical, research, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with multicultural teams across the globe.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience documenting Agile projects.
  • Expert experience using advanced authoring software (Adobe FrameMaker, Acrobat), XML editing tools (Arbortext Editor preferred), and document repositories (Documentum preferred).

Major Job Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Work with cross-functional teams to create and maintain technical documents.
  • Share your DITA experience with our team as we begin to convert an existing doc set to DITA.
  • Create and maintain documentation project plans and publications schedules, and manage milestone dates with stakeholders.
  • Gather relevant release information from Jira stories and update multiple documents. Work with designated contacts for reviews and approvals in key groups, including Product, Development, QA, Program Management, and others.
  • Work independently to research subject matter.
  • Develop or manage the development of all technical content into drafts and manage review cycles.
  • Publish final documentation on approved internal sites
  • Develop new technical documentation, as requested, working to determine tasks and deliverables and estimate resource requirements and timelines.
  • Effectively communicate project status to cross-functional team and proactively escalate project challenges to management for resolution.
  • Monitor assigned documentation projects to ensure that they are on schedule, meet business and audience needs, and are delivered within the forecasted budget.
  • Ensure that documentation complies with department standards for presentation, format and content.
  • Author and maintain documentation in various repositories, such as Documentum, SharePoint, and Wiki.
