Position: Business Intelligence Engineer II
Location: Seattle, WA
Duration: 4+ Months

Job Description:

Team has built a prototype to account for the environmental impact of outbound Client shipping.
This BI Engineer will shore it up and make it higher quality, less of a research tool and more stable software. Need to expand to the other areas of Client fulfillment – how packages are transported to warehouses, move around network, returns – looking at the environmental impact of those.
The team's research scientist will articulate how someone can grab that information, this person will follow those instructions writing SQL query.

Why work on this team?
They work on projects that may help Client understand environmental impact. Opportunity to work with the newest technology. In terms of SQL, they won't be on old MySQL or Oracle, they will work in Redshift. They will be working with hundreds of millions to billions of rows. Great for someone looking for an opportunity to show they can work with newer technologies. Team has lots of PhD holders, so they can learn about sustainability from really smart people.

Typical Day:
Start between 7:30 and 10. Must be okay working 8 hours.
Tend to be okay with WFH, but must be in the office for the first three weeks while figuring out role. If ideal candidate came out and they HAD to work from home, they MIGHT look into this.
There are currently no FTE roles for BIE, but the HM used to be a temp worker, so he's open to helping this person prepare for a possible Client role.
The team is very collaborative, research based, so they talk and learn from each other every day.

MUST HAVE SKILLS:
a.) Expertise writing complex SQL extracts – most critical
b.) Knowledge loading tables, creating tables (building their own)
c.) Making reporting decks or analysis. Data must be summarized using reporting deck like excel or tableau. Instead, could have a detailed analysis looking for cost savings or identifying outliers.
