EHS Specialist III

Must be fully fluent in French.

Under the direction of the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager, the applicant will have the responsibility to ensure the establishment of health and safety programs for the site and support the Alstom Grid's Solutions team in regards to corporate objectives, ISO & OHSAS 18001 standards and the Client's EHS requirements.

In particular, he/she will be responsible to:

• Avoid injury to and preserve the health and safety of Alstom Grid employees, its subcontractors
and any person that comes to site
• Protect and minimize the impact on the environment
• Prepare, initiate and ensure the adequate start-off of HSE activities on the site
• Ensure proper preparation of the prevention program and specific documents for the site
• Take on the role of Health, Safety and Environment Leader on the site
• Advise the site manager and the Client in terms of Health, Safety and Environment
• Coordinate the different health and safety activities and programs in respect to legal and ISO and OSHAS standards requirements and also to the internal corporate requirements as well as the Client's.
• Perform job safety analysis, risk analysis, safe work practices, establish safe practices according to the site activities
• Collaborate with internal and external audits (ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001,COR)
• Supervise, audit and inspect the site according to the proper EHS legal requirements, as well as criteria from the Client and Alstom's EHS requirements
• Analyze reported events and produce statistics
• Participate in accident/incident investigations
• Report all incidents/near misses/accidents
• Conduct health and safety meetings
Required skills & qualities:
Energetic, team oriented, adaptable, possesses leadership in emergency situations, autonomous, resourceful, customer service oriented, possesses problem-solving skills
Profile:
• College or University Diploma in Health & Safety
• 2 years experience in a Health, Safety & Environment Supervisor or Management role on a construction site
• Maintains good interpersonal relations on a construction site
• Knowledge of Saskatchewan's Health, Safety and Environment legislations on a construction site
• Knowledge of ISO 14 001 and OHSAS 18 001 standards
• Knowledge of MS Office
• Valid driver's license
• Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association training completed (SCSA)
• Certification National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) an asset
• First aider RCR + AED
