Electromechanical Engineering Technician

The Electromechanical Engineering Technician supports engineering activities such as design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype robotic systems and specialized test equipment. The successful applicant will work from drawings, schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions and/or defined plans to perform build, test, checkout and troubleshooting functions. The Electromechanical Engineering Technician will be responsible to document what work they performed, issues that were discovered/corrected, and suggestions for improvement to the design for future manufacturability, assembly, testing, and maintenance. They will also perform operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment, assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions and assist in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment. The Electromechanical Engineering Technician will largely use common hand and power tools (e.g. screw drivers, wrenches, drills, presses, grinders soldering iron, cable crimping and multi-meters), but may be required to use specialized manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, mill, lathe, CNC and other specialized equipment.

• Build and test prototype robots and test fixtures • Modify/redline assembly documentation • Create assembly documentation and aids • Document Design For Assembly (DFA), Design For Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Testing (DFT) and any other build improvement opportunities • Perform root cause and corrective action activities • Document and maintain prototype configurations • Support transition to manufacturing locally and at Contract Manufacturer (Both domestic and internationally) • Support test facility and equipment maintenance and management • Provide oversight of integration and testing being conducted by interns • Perform prototype testing • Test reporting and design assessment
