PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

As an intern with Fresenius Medical Care, a student will apply classroom based knowledge to workplace experience and will benefit from learning experiences in their major area of study.

This position entails process development studies to synthesize an inorganic ion exchange material. The studies may include investigation of a multi-stage vs single stage synthesis process as well as potential process optimization. Process development will be evaluated through material performance testing and material chemical and physical properties.

DUTIES / ACTIVITIES:
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
  • Responsible for driving the FMCNA culture through values and customer service standards.
  • Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication.
  • Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Study chemical properties of material synthesis through lab scale synthesis reactions using various reaction parameters.
  • Study physical properties of material synthesis through filtration and/or drying studies.
  • Evaluate material through chemical and physical test methods.
  • Analyze and compile data to give recommendations for further testing.
  • Prepare presentations to communicate data and conclusions to other scientists and management.
  • Conduct careful experimentation in a GMP environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
  • Actively pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Previous laboratory experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and results driven.
