Business planning Analyst

The Business Planning & Analysis group is the 'engine' that keeps the company moving. We are responsible for setting, monitoring, and managing budgets at a very detailed level, managing our 10+ R&D programs, conducting long term strategic planning analysis, and supporting effective and smooth collaboration among the other functions.

The Business Planning Analysis role gains exposure across this breadth of activity, providing operational support that directly enables the great science we conduct. These components could include:
• Process and track agreements for collaborations and scientific service contracts
• Coordinate tracking of employee time allocation to support managerial decision-making and reimbursement from alliance partners
• Prepare development program timeline, budget and analytical documents in close collaboration with Program Managers
• Prepare and update alliance meeting calendars across R&D programs
• Support R&D Program Teams by managing critical documents in Alnylam's knowledge management system

Skills
Experience and interest in biopharmaceutical industry
Strong organizational orientation and attention to detail; high expectations for own work product
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
Willingness to speak up and ask questions when they arise
Desire to work in an exciting and fast paced environment
Flexibility to pitch in where needed, and desire to seek opportunities for impact
Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint (preparing slides, advanced animation not required), Excel (pivot tables, lookup functions) and Word; experience with MS SharePoint preferred but not required
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business related field with an interest in science
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Able to think strategically, formulating actionable financial analyses and seeing them through
  • Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Understanding and compliance with applicable Sarbanes Oxley requirements
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel; experience with SAP preferred
  • Strong work ethic and team player
  • Able to handle multiple assignments and manage competing priorities with tight deadlines
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Ability to work sensitively with confidential material
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
  • Comfortable communicating with various levels of management
