JP 2019 - Network Engineers - REMOTE CONTRACTS!

Open to remote - only WESTERN US - candidates in California and Arizona preferred. LOCATION MUST BE INCLUDED IN SUBMITTAL NOTES.

Travel will vary depending on phase of project and can be up to 75%, More travel would be required during network cuts – that happens throughout the project. Right now they are scheduled for Oct/Nov/Dec of this year and May/June/July of 2019. Network cuts typically happen on Tue and Thur nights. The team typically travels in on Monday and out on Friday. They should always be able to be home on weekends. Initial travel would most likely be to the SF Bay Area and Sacramento – however, it could conceivably be to any Dignity Health location (CA, NV or AZ). Person will need to be onsite at certain phases of the project. The person may be remote when not onsite at a hospital. 2 Phase Interview: 30 minute phone interview, followed by panel interview (in-person preferred). Most weeks at 40 hrs. Some weeks may have OT. Note: during weeks when network gear is being implemented, overnight hours may also be required.

• 5+ years network engineering experience
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification
• Related degree in computer science or electrical engineering and/or three to five years equivalent work experience
• Experience with logical design models and network protocols
• Strong knowledge of Layer 2 network protocols (STP, VLANs, Ethernet, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of IP routing (IP addressing, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
• Understand WAN/LAN and transport technologies (MPLS, TDM circuits, etc.)


JOB DESCRIPTION – Network Engineer II

The Network Engineer will perform the implementation, operational support, maintenance, and optimization of network
hardware, software, and communication links for 41 hospitals, 200 clinics, and 3 states. The Network Engineer will apply
industry best practices and methodologies and enterprise standards to ensure that the network provides reliable service
and supports the organization's business objectives and mission. The Network Engineer will also analyze network
issues and provide timely and thorough resolution.

Responsibilities
• Implement, and operate communication networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business
• objectives and processes for a network of 41 hospitals, 200 clinics, & 3 states
• Implement, and operate LANs, WLANs, and WANs, using equipment including Cisco routers, switches, wireless network
• equipment, network security devices, UPSs, and other network devices
• Maintain and follow enterprise standards
• Monitor network performance and perform capacity management
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational network issues
• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, processes, and service records
• Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network hardware, software, and peripheral
• devices
• Work in collaboration with facilities management teams to ensure proper environmental requirements are met for IDF/
• MDF build-outs.
• Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports
• Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the
• networking industry
• Maintain lab environments to test and evaluate configurations and new technologies
• Perform audits and backups Requirements

Education:
Related degree in computer science or electrical engineering and/or 3 to 5 years equivalent work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Experience with logical design models and network protocols
• Strong knowledge of Layer 2 network protocols (STP, VLANs, Ethernet, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of IP routing (IP addressing, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
• Understand WAN/LAN and transport technologies (MPLS, TDM circuits, etc.)
• Working knowledge of other IT systems and how they interact with the network (applications, end user devices, servers)
• Experience with network cabling and physical layer network infrastructure
• Working technical knowledge of network control and management protocols and technologies (CoS, PoE, NTP, DHCP,
• CDP, TFTP, SNMP, SYSLOG etc.) and security-related protocols (SSH, HTTPS, AAA, IPSec, etc.)
• Experience with Cisco IOS software and configuration required
• Experience with Cisco NX-OS and IOS-XE software is preferred
• Wireless experience is a plus including conducting wireless site surveys, knowledge of RF and wireless troubleshooting,
• configuration of Cisco wireless controllers and lightweight access points, Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS),
• experience with RFID/location services, and wireless security
• IP voice and video experience is a plus
• Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio is required
• Network Engineer 3+ years network engineering experience Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification
