Job Description/Comment:
The Senior Manager of Portfolio Management plays a key role in the effective delivery of IT project portfolio. The area of responsibility spans the ownership of shaping portfolio governance processes and day-to-day management oversight of the technology project portfolio for one or more functional areas. This includes actively planning various aspects of the portfolio including resource availability, budget allocation, and project sequencing in order to best deliver the portfolio to our business commitments and against our operational constraints. The Senior Manager will work with various senior business partners and along with his/her peers are responsible for building and supporting processes for project portfolio prioritization, as well as portfolio issues and risk management. This role is also a key contributor to the negotiation of cross-functional work for the approved portfolio of IT Projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that the PPM system (Clarity) is up to date with key metric information (start/end dates, current budget, resources, PM assigned, high level status, and project type).
  • Lead the weekly review process to focus on project review for CIO.
  • Bring visible significant changes in timing, scope, resources, and cost, including analyzing portfolio trends, issues, dependencies, and metrics.
  • Facilitate project team interaction with resource planning and finance.
  • Interface with domain and project lead to review dashboards and deliverables; building a knowledge base of lessons learned and benefits captured.
1.Portfolio Planning
  • In the event of a new high priority project or reprioritization, determine which projects are impact candidates based on resource and business impact.
  • Facilitate new project prioritization meetings with executives.
  • Work with executives to tie project back to overall strategic initiatives.
  • Financial: Understand current project financial commitments as it relates to yearly budgets from a Capital/Expense perspective.
  • Manage the portfolio budget for one or more functional areas.
2. Portfolio Governance Methodology
  • Responsible for helping to shape overall approach on how projects are loaded on the roadmap, approval and prioritization with senior management.
  • Responsible for operationalizing approach and adapting IT environment.
  • Responsible for continual improvement and innovation processes to increase transparency to all senior executives.
3. Portfolio Management
  • Works with Domain Leaders and Project Leads(s) in monitoring of portfolio progress and health by keeping an updated view of all the projects that are planned, in progress in a management dashboard.
  • Effectively communicates project portfolio status to Sr. Leadership (business and IT), internal and external stakeholders, including portfolio health, risks, issues, and escalations.
  • Support and makes recommendations to optimize portfolio value by performing various trade-off analysis that factor in business alignment, IT alignment, risk, and benefit.
  • Provides input to financial reporting and oversight, including budget forecasting.
  • May directly supervise one or more Portfolio Analysts/Managers.
  • Provide portfolio oversight to the projects as requested by the business units.
  • Ensure the quality of project data that define the portfolio constraints e.g.: Issue, Risk and other KPI information on projects.
