Laboratory Automation Engineer

Location: San Diego, California
Job function would entail execution assistance for a large project. Project will include the integration of Hamilton liquid handlers with manufacturing execution software systems, transition from custom robot control software to Venus 3, and development and optimization of liquid handling methods. Develop user and system requirements, perform experiments/DOEs, write and/or execute verification and validation protocols, transfer system to manufacturing, and support liquid handler use in high-volume manufacturing.

• Work experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical or chemical industries is desirable.
• Experience with chemical processes (preferably organic) preferred.
• Experience with Statistical Process Control and DOE techniques is a plus,
• Experience with high volume manufacturing in a high tech, high volume consumables industry is a plus.
• High level computer skills are required.
• Experience with product development processes and project management is a plus.
• Good interdepartmental communication skills and documentation skills are required.
• Demonstrated ability to accomplish goals while working across departments is required.
• Create test plans for equipment and software that have stated use cases, requirements and specifications
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and instrumentation problems.
• Ability to evaluate and test new automation technologies/platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in programming Hamilton robotics is strongly desired (or other liquid handler programming experience)
• Experience integrating Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) with automated systems. Core Informatics LIMS experience a plus
• Experience working as a member of a process/product development team, developing high-reliable solutions according to specifications and timelines.
