Job Description:

The technical writer will pair up with the Billing Platform and Guest Commerce team on Payments to provide documentation surrounding our APIs, components and systems. Payments is currently migrating from ad hoc and incomplete Quip documents to a dedicated site to provide comprehensive documentation.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Write technical documentation for our external developer audience, such as API and component reference docs and developer guides.
  • Design and organize documentation sets for new APIs and developer products.
  • Supplement developer documentation with relevant sample code.
  • Observe and suggest improvements to APIs based on partner feedback.
  • The writer is going to play a crucial role in helping scale the organization. If we have a writer, then by the end of 2018 we’ll have documentation that will allow all partners, not just Payments, move faster because of easier access to information.

Key Skills:
  • Proficiency in writing clearly and effectively about technical topics in language accessible to our support teams.
  • Responsible for executing and maintaining technical documentation for both internal teams and COMPANY employees, including training manuals and other technical processes, policies, or procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects effectively
  • Proficient using content management system (CMS) including Quip, Confluence or equivalent tooling
  • Knowledgeable using Jira to manage requests for new or updated content from support teams to track deliverables for engineering teams
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years working in a technology field preferably with domain experience with data products or data infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a technical writing role creating and maintaining runbooks, procedures, policy documents.
  • Proficiency with Java, Ruby, HTML, CSS 
  • Work background with focus on knowledge management preferred.

Education:
Bachelors degree preferred
