Client is the world's leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry, manufacturing complex machines that are critical to the production of integrated circuits or chips. Headquartered in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.

The clients division in San Jose, CA, is a worldwide leader in computational lithography. They created the Tachyon Flex platform, a highly accurate and ultra-fast Optical Proximity Correction (OPC) and OPC verification system, which provides unique capabilities that address the interrelated challenges of design, photomask creation, and wafer printing for semiconductor manufacturing.

Job Mission:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer for an onsite 9 month contract position. You will update and maintain documentation for a highly sophisticated engineer and developer audience in the semiconductor industry.

Job Description:
  • Write, edit, and publish high-quality single-source product documentation authored in DITA XML using Oxygen XML Author, Adobe structured FrameMaker, and Microsoft Word, integrated with the Bluestream XDocs Component Content Management System (CCMS).
  • Coordinate internal reviews of the product documentation.
  • Publish documentation in PDF using Adobe Acrobat.
  • Collaborate with other writers and the product engineering, development, customer support, and product marketing teams to develop and maintain product documentation.
Education:
BS/BA degree required in English, Communication, Technical Writing, or other related degree.

Requirements:
  • At least five years' experience writing and editing developer documentation for highly complex technology products.
  • Three or more years' experience using DITA and a DITA CCMS.
  • Experience using oXygen or another XML authoring tool.
  • Ability to develop and maintain documents that contains a large number of DITA files.
  • Ability to add and update index entries.
  • Experience working with off-site authors and subject matter experts (SMEs), including editing content created by English as a Second Language (ESL) speakers.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
  • Experience creating and editing graphics using Microsoft PowerPoint and a screenshot utility, such as TechSmith SnagIt.
  • Experience using source control tools, wikis, and bug tracking systems (Perforce, Atlassian Confluence and JIRA preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience creating and maintaining online help.
  • Experience writing and editing product and service documentation for chip design and manufacturing products in the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience using Simple English or Basic English to document complex concepts for ESL audiences.
  • Experience with structured FrameMaker.
  • Familiarity with UNIX tools and commands.
  • Ability to read C and Java code, and to recognize proper code formatting.
