Technical Delivery Manager

Technical Delivery Managers oversee the planning for, and the day-to-day execution of one or more large, high risk or high complexity IT software delivery projects within a line of business. Management responsibility extends through the entire project lifecycle from the Initiation Phase
through Implementation and includes post-implementation support during the Stabilization period

The Technical Delivery Manager is responsible for utilizing the Project Management and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies to plan, execute, monitor and control, and close projects. He/she is responsible for team building, stakeholder management and for providing effective communications of project related status, risks and issues.
The Technical Delivery Manager is responsible for actively supporting continuous process improvement, for participating in project procurements, for mentoring less-senior personnel, identifying project management training needs, and teaching essential project management skills required for successful project planning and execution.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Minimum of 6-8 years Technical project management experience of
    technology projects including technical stack consolidation or technology
    upgrades with a software development team and a track record of delivering
    on time, on spec, on budget
  • (PMP) certification
  • Proven leadership experience directing senior staff resources, including Engineers, Application Architects, Solution Architects, Developers, Testers & other resources required to finish the project
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, including various areas of Informational Technology & the Business
  • Demonstrated experience using Systems Development Lifecycle and Project Management Methodologies
  • Demonstrated proficiency with project scheduling tool (e.g., Microsoft Project)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Demonstrated capability to understand the technical details of the program/project on software stack of Java/J2EE
  • Demonstrated capability to manage a software delivery project providing expert guidance on solution, architecture and development tasks
  • 4-5 years of hands on experience in a managing/leading software development team and/or software development group.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in leading & managing a global distributed application development team
  • Minimum 4 years of experiences of creating or upgrading development platforms
  • Prepared and willing to provide both Technical and Performance Management coaching and mentoring.
  • Able to lead multiple projects concurrently.
