Position Summary: 
This position helps maintain and repair the Facility's structure, equipment, and grounds, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for a variety of mechanical service calls and in-house repairs throughout the facility and grounds.
  • Completes the work order process in a timely manner.
  • Acts in a customer service role, and represents the facilities department to other employees.
  • Performs skilled trade work, such as carpentry or painting in the construction, repair or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs, or office fixtures as directed.
  • Accepts guidance from senior mechanic to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • Monitors, maintains, documents, and performs preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment as directed.
  • May work from sketches, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Acts as liaison and may supervise the work of contractors.
  • Collaborates and works closely with other departments including engineering. 
  • Performs typical maintenance and cleaning tasks.
  • Keeps work areas orderly and well-maintained.
  • Completes assigned training in a timely manner.
  • Works safely by observing EHS rules, policies and procedures.
  • May be on call and able to respond according to schedules.
 
Requirements:
  • Basic maintenance and construction technical skills
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and processes
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and equipment manuals
  • Basic PC skills with ability and willingness to learn new software
  • Skilled in the operation of hand and power tools such as drills, saws, grinders, and sanders
  • Ability to read and write routine reports
  • Must be able to frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds
  • Biotech industry facilities experience desired
  • Knowledge of laboratory practices a plus
 
Education:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Technical Training, Trade School.
