Duties / Job Responsibilities:
  • Markets, coordinates and administers the sale of Client's surplus, obsolete, inactive, discontinued, used, scrap materials and retired capital equipment through auctions, sealed bids, internet sales or direct sales to external buyers.
  • Develops internal relationships with the line of business for possible internal re-distribution of used tools and non-stock items.
  • Administers methods for tracking both external material sales and internal re-distribution transactions.
  • Establishes and maintains new markets for surplus materials by monitoring and tracking buyer's purchasing habits.
  • Conducts market research for surplus materials and supplies via periodicals, internet, networking and cold calling original equipment manufacturers for new buyers.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations on the disposition of Client's surplus, obsolete and scrap materials that will achieve the optimum return on investment.
  • Manages and verifies funds generated from sales by preparing sales orders and applying the appropriate accounting to the funds generated.
  • Develops and maintains effective team oriented working relationships with all regions and other departments within Client.
  • Develop and execute sales plans, in line with Client's overall business objectives, in order to increase opportunities with new and existing customers.
  • Follow up on leads and develop effective relationships with current and prospective customers in order to explain and promote Client's surplus materials for the purpose of creating interest and generating increased sales.

Job Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in Marketing or Business Administration or related field with 3 years qualifying experience or equivalent.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in a sales role.
  • Knowledge of Company policies, procedures and organization.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, environmental regulations, safety regulations and recycling.
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills including negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer relations skills including the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships at all levels both internal and external to the Company.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates an energetic and enthusiastic manner and the ability to add value to the customer.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments and meet goals and deadlines.
  • Demonstrates a consistent approach in dealing with people and taking personal responsibility for addressing problems and concerns.
  • Proficient knowledge of a wide variety of office software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet and use of scanners.

Additional Note:
  • The manager would like to see candidates that have worked for an Electrical & Gas material Distributor who handles Electric, Gas, Street Lighting, Substation materials and has sold to Electric / Gas Utilities, Electric / Gas Municipalities, Electrical / Gas Cooperatives and Electrical Pole Line / Gas Contractors..
  • Familiar with selling Pole Line Materials, Hardware or Equipment, Gas materials and Hot line Tools.
