Minimum Requirements for Position
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems or business administration or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
  • Senior Project Manager: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification. Experience in managing large, complex development projects. If not Scrum Master certified, must be willing to assume Scrum Master responsibilities without additional extensive training.
  • Scrum Master: First level Scrum Master certification required (PSM I, CSM); second or third level desired (PSM II, PSM III, CSP, CTC). Experience in managing large, complex Agile projects, including to organizations converting from traditional waterfall to Agile. If not PMP certified, must be able to assume standard PM responsibilities without additional extensive training.
  • Extensive experience with resource forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Previous experience with Agile / Lean development methodologies highly desirable; use of Jira to manage Agile development projects. If no experience, must be willing to go through Agile training.
  • Experience with service bureau environments a must.
  • Knowledge of user centered design a must.
  • Experience managing client contact for project and pilot efforts desired.
Job Summary:
  • The Scrum Master / Senior Project Manager is an individual passionate about making teams the best they can be, by supporting team building, day to day activities, and managing overall project progress and risk at an exceptional level. This motivated individual is experienced in managing projects within a fast paced environment, and leading development resources through the Agile process to be successful. This person can communicate across all levels of the organization, both in written and verbal format, as well as with external partners such as clients and vendors.
  • Advanced professional role. Highly-skilled with extensive proficiency. Generally manages large and/or complex projects. Works under minimal supervision on complex projects. Wide latitude for independent judgment. Typically requires eight or more years work experience managing technical projects in financial services or a related industry or a related technical field, e.g., application development, technology integration, business analysis, client technology consulting.
  • Responsible for all aspects of assigned projects / sprints. Projects / sprints may be focused on development of new or upgraded products and services, internal information system-specific projects that may involve development or enhancement of internal applications, technology integration and/or infrastructure environment build-out, delivery by service teams for outsourced solutions to external clients or delivery of new or enhanced products and/or services to improve customer satisfaction through use of technology.

General Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plans and coordinates all aspects of projects / sprints from initiation through delivery.
  • Guide and coach the sprint team on Agile / Scrum practices and FIS' use of the methodology and roles/responsibilities within it.
  • Lead role in managing product backlog.
  • Lead "Facilitator” role in story and sprint planning and execution.
  • Main "Note Taker” during sprint activities.
  • Owner of defect management process, resolution, and reporting.
  • Lead daily stand ups / downs and retrospectives.
  • Manages project initiation activities including managing related contractual obligations, client needs and goals, existing situation, necessary contacts and access to existing information as needed.
  • Develops, defines and executes project plans, activities, schedules, budgets and deliverables. Includes managing artifacts, adherence to practices and patterns, change requests, etc.
  • Expected to manage sprint details, assigned tasks, and progress via Jira.
  • Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
  • Interacts with product development, sales, client relationship teams, technology solutions, service delivery and/or other cross-functional teams.
  • Identifies needed resources for projects, defines and assigns major project roles.
  • Coordinates activities and tasks among project team members, other internal departments and client or vendor/subcontractor organizations as needed to meet project goals and ensure project completion is on schedule, within budget constraints and of the appropriate quality standards for the project scope.
  • Assigns and monitors work of project team providing support and direction. Interfaces with external clients or partners as needed.
  • Manages project risks, issues/problems and activity progress to ensure project goals, e.g., deadline, scope and quality are achieved. Assists with problem resolution or risk mitigation as needed.
  • Serves as liaison between teams, in internal organizations as well as in client and vendor/subcontractor organizations to ensure all project targets and requirements are met.
  • Responsible for detailed status reporting to multiple levels within the organization.
  • Conducts project closure activities to formalize and communicate the project acceptance, handover documentation and ongoing activities to accountable teams and complete a post-implementation review to identify areas of improvement.
  • Identifies project management coordination process gaps or areas for improvement, recommends and implements solutions. Collaborates with architecture, PMO, and other resources for continual process improvement opportunities.
  • Other related duties assigned as needed.

General Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of project management standards, processes, procedures and guidelines
  • Knowledge of the industry project management best practices, i.e., Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
  • Knowledge of various types of IT project methodologies and life cycles, e.g., conversions, incremental, rapid delivery, classic or traditional waterfall phases of analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and the correct project application
  • Knowledge of standards relevant to the software industry , e.g., ISO, CMM, Six Sigma
  • Knowledge of financial services industry desired
  • Advanced skill in the use of project management software to manage projects, e.g., MS Project and auxiliary tools, such as earned value database, audit tools, project repository, including risk, issues and action items database, SLIM Estimate, Metrics and Control, PlanView, Platinum Process Continuum
  • Demonstrated skill in managing project budgets and timelines
  • Skill in the use of negotiation techniques to reach agreement when there are widely-differing viewpoints
  • Excellent analysis, problem-solving, team, conflict management and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to set clear expectations and manage team performance
  • Excellent in building strong teams and high morale among team members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and carry out assignments that are sensitive in nature
Schedule:
- 40-50 hour work week expected Monday-Friday.
