​Position Summary:
  • The Manager for Economic Capital is accountable for supporting Enterprise capital management process including capital measurement, strategy, planning and execution.
  • This role will manage the economic capital process with in depth expertise on RV risk, credit risk and operation risk. He/she will work closely with other internal and external business partners to drive and implement the risk based strategies, integrate profit expectation and risk appetite in decision making.
Essential Job Functions / Accountabilities:
  • Manage the execution of the enterprise wide Risk Appitite Framework related projects
  • Accountable for the successful delivery of RAF related projects (with emphasis on RV, credit and operations risk), including stress testing, capital edquacy assessment, risk based pricing and portfolio mix analysis
  • Build credibility and partnership across various business units to enable effective business decision making and performance measurement. Works with risk management to understand the relationship between risk and capital
  • Communicate and present results to upper management
  • Support CCAR related projects, working with partners in credit risk and regulatory authorities, incorporating the CCAR stress test scenarios to the economic capital process.
  • Oversee the Economic Capital modeling and reporting process
  • Lead ongoing development of the economic capital process projects (with emphasis on RV, credit risk and operations risk) for the Client Financial Services portfolio for assessment of capital adequacy and risk adjusted profitability of new loans and leases.
  • Monitor financial risk profile and exposures against the stated Risk Appetite. Clearly articulate application processing, behaviors and dependencies
  • Initiate and manage the model improvement projects, including input data integrity checks, segmentation changes, and improvement in model efficiencies.
  • Perform various ad-hoc analyses under tight deadlines, while ensuring high-quality results.
  • Communicate results and strategy recommendation to senior executive

Education:
  • PhD (preferably) in Economics, Statistics, Computational Finance or a related quantitative field such as physics or engineering
Work Experience:
  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience (in similar field and/or industry)
  • Other Specialized Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications [if applicable]: Describe any special skills, knowledge, or qualifications needed to perform the essential job functions/accountabilities.
Other Qualifications:
  • Advanced statistical programming skills (SAS, R or Mathematica) plus advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written, oral communication, project management, presentation and change management skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of auto loan credit default and prepayment models and loss mitigation activities. Knowledge of the fixed income market and securities. Knowledge of Basel III regulatory capital requirements
