The overall purpose of this position is to collaborate on, and support new style events for client. The incumbent in this position is primarily responsible for providing support to the overall team on the development and delivery of event.
The Temporary Project Specialist is expected to have consistent communication with management on developments, problems, and status of projects; and support team members to establish a consistent level of quality, accuracy and compliance to departmental and industry standards.
A suitable candidate must be customer-focused, results oriented, collaborative, creative & passionate. They must demonstrate expertise and business acumen; be honest, forthright and worthy of trust, open to coaching and constructive criticism, and understand the importance of fun and kindness in a professional environment.  He or she will be expected to apply his/her knowledge of situations in matters regarding client's conferences and will be expected to apply that knowledge to make recommendations on decisions and solutions. He/she should have excellent communications skills.
The role typically reports to a Senior Manager and manages 0 direct reports. This position works independently, with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent job experience.
  • At least 2 years business experience working in an event related position.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational abilities.
  • Previous experience working with volunteer leadership based organizations a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Flexible and nimble, able to adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Have a natural curiosity and desire to learn.
  • Must be committed to working both independently and as a team player.
  • Excellent communications skills - both internal- and external-facing.
Credentials, Licenses and Permits:
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Individuals who are working toward or who have earned either the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential, Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credential or a similar advanced degree will benefit from the body of knowledge mastery associated with those credentials.
Skills & Other Requirements:
  • Must be a technologically savvy knowledge worker who likes staying ahead of the latest content and industry trends and applies the benefits of technology to his or her work environment.
  • Must be able to use web conference tools and technologies related to virtual presentations.
  • Must be a daily user of off-the-shelf word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software.
  • An advanced and daily user of email and the Internet for research and communication, plus a regular user of large databases, such as those used for association management.
  • An advanced user of social media, with an understanding of how to apply those tools to communication channels.
  • Must keep up to date on all social media technology, advancements and ever-changing rules and regulations on use.
  • Possess good technical knowledge and be able to provide assistance whenever necessary in real time to those less technologically savvy.
  • This position requires a highly energized, technical savvy team member with a passion for innovation and the innate ability to learn new programs quickly, embrace new technology and seek out creative ideas to apply to event production. This person must work well under pressure, be extremely organized, maintain workload balance, set priorities in a deadline-driven environment and represent the client's in a professional manner.
Spoken skills:
  • Fluency in English language is required; superior knowledge of English grammar and syntax is needed.
  • Experience in developing presentations.
  • Excellent reading comprehension is required.
Teamwork and Leadership Skills:
  • Must display a positive attitude and a supportive, team-based approach towards the attainment of organization's goals and objectives. The incumbent will work with staff and volunteers to develop their knowledge and abilities to ensure maximum effectiveness and flexibility within the projects assigned.  He or she must possess a high degree of personal integrity and business ethics, as well as appropriate business etiquette. He or she will be expected to interface with, create, and maintain positive working relationships across staff and volunteer levels, particularly at the senior levels. 
  • Discretion, respect for confidentiality and tact in all matters is expected and required of this individual.  While it is imperative that he or she work well with minimal supervision, he or she is a key member of a team that must work well across departmental boundaries. The incumbent will be involved in rolling out new programs to other client's operating units, and thus must possess strong training and communication skills.
