Job Summary:  
  
The incumbent in position is primarily responsible for the monthly forecasting process as well as compiling, analyzing and issuing the Treasurer's Monthly Financial Reporting Package (TMFRP).  He or she will work with the financial staff from the other Organizational Units and departments in order to complete this report and will work with them as related to other supporting schedules that are included the TMFRP.  As a result of this effort, the organization will be able to compare how well we are doing vs budget and be in a position to take advantage of opportunities that may arise or take corrective actions if necessary. In addition, this position will also be expected to be an expert as related to the Hyperion budgeting and forecasting software package and will be responsible for training new users and assisting current users.    
  
The position is highly visible to the staff on a routine basis and to the volunteers of the  organization on an occasional basis. This position will report to the Director of FP&A and will have no direct reports and no signing authority. This role is expected to make independent judgment in regards to the area of focus and provide recommendations for processes and policy improvement 
  
Essential Functions: 
  • Compiles financial data and provides analysis and reports
  • Develops and implements improvements to the Forecast Process
  • Coordinates, creates and reviews the Treasurers Monthly Financial Reporting Package which Includes the monthly forecast
    • Works with the departments to understand their forecast issues
    • Provides a clear and concise summary of the overall forecast, the Balance Sheet, Cash flow & Capital Report
  • Develops and analyzes the yearly capital budget
  • Develops and analyzes the yearly budget for depreciation
  • Supports the data repository spreadsheets for the forecast as well as the budget
  • Maintains and updates as needed the supporting process flows
  • Supports the yearly Five Year Outlook process
  • Develops metrics for operating units
  • Issues monthly KPI (Key Performance Indicator) charts and analysis
  • Maintains and improves the competitive analysis work papers
  • Trains others on the forecast process
  • Systems integrity and maintenance – may serve as a back up
  • Other Special Projects as required.
Qualifications
 
Education and Experience:   
  • We require an undergraduate degree in a relevant business body of knowledge such as accounting or business administration, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with specialization in either finance or accounting is desirable
  • We require a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in financial planning and analysis
  • His or her background must demonstrate expertise in financial analysis and budgetary operations, as well as strong interpersonal skills and communications skills.
  • Individuals who are studying for or who have completed and maintained licensure as either a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant are preferred
 Skills & Other Requirements:    
  • He or she must be a technologically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges.
  • He or she must be able to present budgetary information to audiences ranging from five to thirty-five business professionals.
  • Typical audiences may include the Finance Committee and the staff management council.
  • Must possess strong computer modeling skills
  • Must be an expert in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with Oracle applications including Hyperion Planning a strong plus
  • The Senior Financial Analyst interacts primarily with the staff during the forecast process this interaction is monthly.
  • This person must be able to work effectively as part of a team, be able to shift priorities and demonstrate flexibility and professionalism. 
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment and decision making will also be essential.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues both verbally and in writing is critical to this position.
  • There will be some interaction with members of the volunteer committees supported by this department.
  • Must have effective training, administration and customer service skills
