Description: Campus Education is looking for instructors to teach a new SAT Preparation course at its locations in Flushing, NY, and Piscataway, NJ. The instructors will
deliver a curriculum devoted to preparing students for success on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). They will prepare effective lesson plans, meet curricular objectives, provide personalized attention and guidance to students, assess students regularly and provide reports on progress.
Test preparation instructors must be thoroughly familiar with the new SAT exam format and must be able to provide instruction on each part of the test. They will have a store of test-taking tips and techniques to impart as well as suggestions for independent study to help students make progress towards achieving their goals on the test. In their lessons, they will employ a combination of lecture, question-and-answer, small-group work, and other interactive techniques to promote learning, independent thought and retention of the material taught. They will also have supplementary materials and exercises to combine with the required course materials.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching at the high school level and be familiar with the common core standards and curricula used in the New York and New Jersey public school systems. This part-time position is suited to someone who teaches in the K-12 school system during the day, or who teaches part-time at the college level, and desires additional work and supplemental income.
Minimum Qualifications: B.A. degree and experience teaching and/or tutoring English and/or mathematics. An M.A. degree and/or extensive experience working in the test preparation field preferred.
