Solution Architect

  • Analyze the DCS Customer business and technical requirements to ensure the (sub-set of the overall) solution is aligned accordingly. The solution covers the Current Mode of Operations (CMO), Intermediate Mode of Operations (IMO(s)), Future Mode of Operations (FMO) state and the technical migration approach to get to this FMO state
  • Leverage as much as possible standardized portfolio (service catalogue) and associated solution modules / building blocks and combine them to deliver the end to end technical solution. Involve Delivery Support resources for deep technical expertise and coordinate their inputs into the technical solution process.
  • Lead overall solution that requires Solution Architect expertise of two or more towers / practices unless a Solution Manager is assigned. Identify appropriate services and delivery lines and ensure their services can be delivered
  • Get the required solution design approvals from DCS program and delivery according to the existing processes
  • Coordinate the input from all candidate deliveries and 3rd parties
  • Perform the deal specific vendor management
  • Support Procurement for the selection of new 3rd party partners and create a definition of statement of work arrangements
  • Provide input to the solution project on migration aspects
  • Create the solution cost model. Compile and identify all costs that will be incurred in solution delivery. The costs may consist of standard and non-standard components. Take strategic viewpoints and target costing into account
  • Support the solution proposal presentations at DCS Customer locations and/or internal offices. Prepare the relevant part of presentation material related with the services, architecture and technology aspects of the solution.
  • Participate in the collection of DCS Customer Specific Data in order to validate the solution accuracy, costing and assumptions
  • Ensure that the results of risk assessment are documented in the Risk Register and are taken into costing
  • Throughout project life cycle, identify and assess all risk factors utilizing relevant checklists (risk analysis) and implement all opportunities for improving results
  • Devise suitable strategies for risk mitigation (elimination, reduction). Identify and minimize non-conformance costs
  • Identify with stakeholders the consequences of Change Requests and incorporate them into Solution Design when applicable.
  • Hand-over of customer granted solutions to the transformations / delivery partners at the appropriate and agreed time within the solution life cycle

Solution Architect usually sits within the Solution team, led by a Solution Manager and must be aligned with:
  • Solution Manager
  • Financial Lead
  • CTO
  • Program Project Manager
  • Service Delivery Management Team

Communication skills:
  • English business fluent

Technical skills:
The Solution Architect is specialized in at least one of the following tower / practice: Adaptive Workplace; Managed Infrastructure Solutions; Applications Operations; Network & Communications; Identity, Security & Risk Management; Cross Functional; Open systems environments; Mainframe environment, Business Process Management, Enterprise Content Management, Middleware, etc.
  • Knowledge about technology, market situation, DCS portfolio, DCS delivery and migration standards in the areas/towers
  • Ability to design end-to-end solutions based on standard portfolio (service catalogue) and associated solution modules / building blocks
  • Ability to design and validate business cases on associated costing to the designed solution and migration
  • Familiar with National/International standards associated with IT services (e.g. ITIL, PRINCE2, IEEE802.3)
  • Ability to present and negotiate the technical parts (incl. cost impact) in negotiations with decision maker(s)

Working Experience:
  • At least 5 years experience as a Solution Architect and 10 years in functions within IT
  • Experience of applying architectural models to solution design
  • Basic management skills in an ICT environment or projects in small team
  • Proven track-record in ICT environment or projects; experience working within multi-cultural teams
