Operating System Installation, configuration and upgrades the Solaris 10, 11 on SPARC hardware and Red hat Enterprise Linux RHEL 5.6/8 & 6.3/6 on X86 hardware.
Solaris servers using Jumpstart, Flar installation, live upgrade and manual installation.
Using kick Start method to install the Red hat Linux, 5.x, 6.x on Client DL 380, 580 G5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 series.
Supported a large infrastructure of Sun Enterprise-class/T-series servers running Solaris and Client DL series on Linux servers.
Perform SAN / NAS storage migration from EMC Symmetrix/Clarion to Vmax storage.
Install and configur Solaris 10 Logical domains (LDOM's) v3.1/2.2 and 1.2/1 on SPARC T2000/5240/52* and T3-2/T4-2's Oracle hardware.
Creating the Global, Local and Branded zones on Solaris systems and performed migration of couple applications to Solaris zones from the physical servers.
Installing and configuring the High Availability UNIX systems and supported to install the APP and Oracle RAC data base like ASM/CRS cluster ware.
Configuring the Network redundancy between the IP's, NIC cards and switch ports using IPMP/Aggregations/LACP and Bonding methodology on various Solaris and Linux systems.
Perform the patching and upgrading the Kernel Firmware on various hardware systems and application maintenance on server schedule maintenance window.
Patch and Package management using patchadd, pkgadd on Solaris and RPM, YUM & UP2DATE in Red Hat Linux Servers
Work with functional managers to provide the status reporting on schedules and projects status/updates.
Requesting the SAN/NAS Storage, IP's, hostnames, backups, DNS, server/apps level monitoring and Licenses for third party software tools for the servers.
Providing day-to-day user administration like adding or deleting users, password aging, zoning, partitioning, LDAP administration, ACL, quotas, file system creation (ZFS/UFS/NFS), system monitoring, auto job's, backup checkup and writing stored procedures and shell scripts.
Installing and configuration and maintenance of Avamar, Veritas Net Backup 7.1/6.5.5/6.5. Client and Enterprise Media licenses (TAN).
Installing Sun studio, Sun Explorer, EMC Power path installations, VERITAS netback up and upgrades the software's.
Storage setups, RAID creation, Solaris volume manager SVM, Logical Volume Manager LVM, system backup design and disaster recovery.
Request firewall rules, Local/Global Load balancer rules LLB/GLB and partner net port opening for application side as well as server side.
Perform the DR Failover test and Server/apps performance tests, which involves the failover/failback the apps, SAN and NAS in between the PROD-DR servers.
Responsible on all third party software tools installation and configuration on servers like Team Quest, Big Brother, Trip wire and power broker, App Works, Site cope, Nagios, Atstool box, and Client open view.
SAN and Server migration on production and development servers on scheduling window for Data center move. Closely work with Data Center team, application team to engage the Sun/IBM support engineers to implement the DC move project plans.
Request for server procurement installation in DATA CENTER's using DCFM (Data center facilities request) for rack, SAN and IP's cabling.
Implement the IPMP, link aggregation and LACP enable on new and existing servers.
Work closely with Storage team to find new LUNs, running EMC grabs and installing power paths and upgrades version.
Implement file system sharing on the network by configuring NFS on the system to share essential resources.
Closely interacts with Data base team to complete the oracle DB & RAC installations.
Install and configure SAMBA server for windows and Linux connectivity.
Manage disk storage with Veritas Volume Manager 3.5/4.1 and Solaris Volume Manager with Veritas File System (VxFS).
Install and Configure Web and investigate the configuration changes in the production environment.
Implement NIS and NFS for administrative and project requirements.
Tune the kernel parameters based on the application/database requirement.
Monitor system resources, logs, disk usage, scheduling backups and restore
Set up Quotas for the user accounts & limiting the disk space usage.
Configure SUDO and granting root permission to users for performing certain activities.
