Occupational Health & Wellness - Medical Assistant I

Manage front desk activities to include greeting patients, scheduling appointments, medical record management, photocopying, correspondence, answering phones and entering medical data into the electronic medical records database thus must be familiar with medical terminology. Years of Experience 0-3.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to Occupational Health and Wellness (OHW) Site Leader
Works closely with the site other OHW clinical staff
Works directly with site colleagues
Interfaces with various departments as needed

Experience/Education (preferred):
Suggest a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
Previous Occupational Health Experience
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Completed and passed a certified Medical Assistant/Medical Technician program
Typing and computer skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook preferred
CPR and First aid certification required
Phlebotomy certified
Prefer Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conversation (CAOHC) Audiometric Testing certification
Prefer National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Pulmonary Function testing administration (PFT) training
Previous drug testing collection experience
Previous Electrocardiogram training
Adept knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of OSHA regulations a must
Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation provisions and FMLA
Demonstrated ability to conduct day-to-day operations with minimal supervision, strong clinical judgment and able to act under pre-established procedures and guidelines
Vaccine administration
Knowledge of how to care of medical emergencies of Chemical or biological hazard exposures


Major Responsibilities:
Conducts some medical tasks such as throat cultures, urine and blood specimen collection.
Reviews results of medical testing to assure quality outcomes of the testing and repeats test as needed
Documents patient data in paper and electronic databases as applicable per standard protocols
Performs routine or specialized procedures such as venipuncture and drug screens
Assesses injuries, performs first aid, cleanses and dresses wounds
Flushes eyes and ears
Maintains confidentiality with all patient care, familiar with HIPAA regulations
Maintains medical equipment including daily calibrations
Attends and participates in team staff meetings
Schedules and monitors patient appointments
Performs record management for clinic records
Provides administrative support to the clinic

Position Comments visible to MSP and Supplier: Medical assistant for the clinic onsite in McPherson, KS 3 days / week. Hours/days are flexible between 6 am and 6pm. Needs to have a strong administrative background, excellent customer service, and confidentiality with all patient care. The requirements listed in the JD are extremely nice to have. CPR/first aid certified or willing to complete soon is a must. Must be comfortable in emergency situations. A candidate that has experience working in a clinic or medical office would be ideal.
