The Integrated Biologics Profiling Unit (IBP) evaluates new therapeutic protein candidates at the transition from research to development to identify candidates with a preferential developability profile. Activities such as cell line development, purification, biophysical profiling, pre-formulation assessment and in vivo fitness are performed by a cross-functional team of passionate scientists from various backgrounds in an international setting.
As an Associate Scientist in IBP, you will contribute to cutting-edge high throughput screenings to test solubility and stability of various kinds of therapeutic protein candidates. You will be responsible for timely setup of screens and sampling. Furthermore, you would contribute to the implementation of automated workflows by setting up the scripts for different robotic systems in collaboration with various line function experts.

Major Accountabilities:
Perform high throughput screens in plate-based formats using cutting-edge robotic systems (e.g. Tecan)
Support senior experts in the design of studies for different protein formats
Support analytical readouts for stability studies
Plan and set up robotic methods (programming) for high throughput purification, analytical and formulation screens in collaboration with respective line function experts
Accurately and timely process samples, compile data, contribute to result interpretation and provide information to characterization reports
Actively participate and present scientific data in team and expert meetings
Ensure maintenance of technical equipment and organization of the general lab infrastructure (e.g. consumable orders, buffer preparations)
Effectively manage timelines and work closely with team members and customers in an international setting

Strong hands-on / lab experience with protein handling and protein sample preparations, e.g. for HPLC or physicochemical characterization
Strong hands-on experience with object-oriented programming languages (e.g. C++, JAVA, VBA)
Accurate working style and passion for hands-on lab work (>80%) and managing parallel activities with high quality
Hands-on experience with plate-based assays, lab-automation techniques and high throughput methods is a plus
Experience of stability testing and basic understanding of respective analytical assays for different protein formats (e.g. antibodies) is a plus
Strong inter-personal and communication skills
Proficiency in English (oral and written)
Experience in working in an industrial setting is a plus

BS/MS degree or equivalent in biochemistry, analytical chemistry or related field
