Title- Data Scientist – Automation

Position Summary:
The Data Scientist for Automation is an expert in managing and leveraging operational data and utilizing data science to improve the performance of client company's Customer Service and Risk departments. This senior position requires a strong background in statistics, machine learning, analytics, and data engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Use computational tools including R, Weka, and SQL to produce predictive analytics packages for operational deployment.
  • Design and develop analysis techniques that uncover patterns, trends and anomalies in large-scale data using a broad range of machine learning techniques.
  • Test solutions for functionality and integrity; troubleshoot and resolve errors.
  • Utilize data mining techniques and develop data models to assist in the visualization and interpretation of data.
  • Interpret data to identify trends, conduct root cause analysis of problems, and suggest areas for process improvement.
  • Hold reviews with business owners to validate quality, completeness, and accuracy of analysis and reports.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design business intelligence solutions to facilitate data gathering, storage and retrieval.
  • Collaborate with software engineering to integrate Client services into production applications.
  • Integrate data from multiple data sources or functional areas, ensure data accuracy and integrity, and update data as need.
  • Stay current and informed on the latest machine learning research.
  • Perform research, analysis and modeling on organizational data. Aggregate and perform statistical analysis on business data based on requests from senior leadership or project teams.
  • Develop and apply algorithms or models to key business metrics with the goal of improving operations or answering business questions. Provide findings and analysis for use in decision making.
  • Provide business strategy recommendations and measures toward improving business results.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required
  • Expert knowledge in machine learning, data analytics, and, more broadly, in math, statistics, and database structures and data governance.
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply and computationally implement topics in advanced mathematics (such as probability and statistics, machine learning, signal processing, queueing theory, time series analysis, etc.).
  • Advanced understanding of packages such R, SQL, Tableau or similar programming languages and data analysis tools.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage own schedule and time.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and work with little supervision.
Communication/Language Skills
  • Excellent communications skills including the ability to communicate complex findings to executives in various departments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, non-verbal skills, and listening skills.
  • Comfort with giving and receiving honest feedback.
  • Ability communicate effectively in various team settings using clear and concise language and proper tone.
  • Flexibility in implementation and open to the ideas and opinions of others.
  • Four-year degree in a quantitative discipline. Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline with research experience would be considered a plus.
  • History of providing leadership on new methods for using data science to deliver insights and innovation.
  • Track record of delivering tangible business benefits through automated solutions
