General Responsibilities
  • The Engineer III position will apply infrastructure experience to implement and test Client's business solutions, hardware refreshes and configuration enhancements.
  • This individual will work very closely with other technical teams and support groups to meet business demands.
  • Other responsibilities include
  • support of Client's Zimbra email system and Device Provisioning platform running on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system. 
Specific responsibilities:
  • Shares responsibility for the day-to-day support, maintenance and monitoring of development & testing equipment running Red Hat Linux.
  • Troubleshooting with development teams, making OS changes, testing changes and documenting changes for hand off to production teams Meet with internal clients to gather technical requirements for new engineering requirements, document technical proposals, and be able to review with team in a clear and concise manner
  • Responsible for functionality of enterprise level DNS infrastructure and other selective business applications.
  • Keep abreast of latest changes and feature availability for Red Hat Linux, Splunk, VMW are Perform resource monitoring, performance tuning, and scaling of infrastructure as needed on the RHEL systems Customize scripts to kick start RHEL systems; setup other automations to streamline repetitive administration.
  • Configure, monitor, and manage physical storage and file systems on LINUX servers
  • Perform hardware and software installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting of OS, provisioning, email and web based applications
  • Work closely with application support teams to maintain up-to-date patch levels and application specific feature configuration
  • Participate in on-call rotation and work to resolve critical issues 24/7 
Preferred experience/skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, CS or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years' experience with RHEL versions 5/6/7, CentOS, or Fedora system administration in an enterprise environment
  • 2-4 years' experience supporting web and email servers in an ISP environment
  • Prior experience as a technical lead or manager of a small team
  • 1-2 years' experience working with VMWare v5 and virtual environments
  • Ability to successfully handle the completion of multiple concurrent assignments or related support mechanisms for escalation/resolution purposes
  • Advanced enterprise level skills in shell scripting and programming with vi editor
  • Enterprise Technologies (NFS, Kick start procedures, performance tuning, mail, security)
  • Internet server protocols and utilities (DNS, SMTP, POP, IMAP, HTTP/S, TLS, S/FTP, TCP/IP, SSH, iptables)
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills with little supervision (email, network, hardware, OS)
  • Understanding of RHEL and/or software based cluster configurations and concepts
  • Performance tuning and monitoring (Nagios, Catci and Solar winds)
  • Technical documentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of Splunk (SPL) is a huge plus
  • Working knowledge of GlusterFS is a plus
  • Working knowledge of NetApp / Compel lent storage systems, & Cisco UCS configuration is a plus
