Job Description:

The Safety Data Analyst will join the PV IM team which is part of the PVRM Department. In this role, the Data Analyst must develop an in depth understanding of safety data and data structures as well as the ability to translate specifications into BI tools (Cognos, Spotfire, SQL) logic. Under general direction, the analyst will generate reports and provide ad hoc analyses related to business and safety activities and produce decision-support information.
This role requires working with multiple sources of data (ex: postmarketing and clinical data) to meet both internal and external reporting requirements and support new initiatives. Projects range from simple programming and basic data manipulation/analysis to more advanced techniques. The Safety Data Analyst will work closely with his/her team, PV Scientists and Medical Directors to execute analytic plans and ensure accurate, valid, reliable, and timely results. The Safety Data Analyst must have a strong attention to detail and knowledge of data structure and programming. Effectively communicating issues and results is critical to being successful in this position.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Work with a variety of tools (ex: Cognos, Spotfire, Argus, SQL, Excel, etc) to access data, write queries, develop programming logic, run reports, manipulate, and analyze large datasets to meet the needs of the requestors.
  • Retrieving, organizing, and manipulating data from the Safety and other databases. This will require basic programming to prepare data for reporting and analysis.
  • Presenting analytical findings in a variety of formats (Excel reports, PowerPoint, graphs, figures, and tables), formulating recommendations, and effectively presenting results to non-analytic audiences.
  • Responsible for completing thorough quality assurance procedures ensuring accuracy, reliability, and validity of work.
  • Support the development, modification, and validation of new and existing quality measures as needed.
  • Experience with clinical and post marketing safety data is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of programming languages and statistical software (SQL and SAS/Basic/C/etc.) is preferred or 2 years of Pharmacovigilance related environment
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint is required
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting, and working knowledge of data visualization software is preferred
  • Strong understanding of data structure/integration and relational database design
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and collaborate with team members and others throughout the organization.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to take initiative.
  • Confident working independently.
  • Able to quickly adapt and learn in an ever-changing technical, contractual, and regulatory environment.
  • BS/BA or equivalent required and advanced education/training in data programming and/or statistics
  • 1-2 years of experience in detailed analytics and reporting, preferably in healthcare.
  • Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Information Technology, Computer Science or Biostatistics preferred.
