Job Description:
Position Title: VPI (Valued Package Introduction) Sourcing Specialist
Position Summary:
Purchases assigned items and executes buying strategies in accordance with agreed upon material buying plans at the optimum cost. Analyzes sourcing information and presents findings for process improvement and cost reduction while maintaining high quality product and/or service delivery.
Job duties and responsibilities for this position will include the following:
  • Reviews and processes engineering releases and takes the appropriate purchasing actions such as updating necessary new product program tracking information (Bill of materials, costs, etc)
  • Enters data and information into purchasing systems related to the VPI purchasing deliverables, including PPAP requests, quotations, sourcing rules, direct purchase orders, and new supplier EDI setup requests.
  • Executes Confidential Disclosure Agreements, Requests for Quote, Supplier Tooling Authorization and Letters of Intent as appropriate.
  • Analyzes Supplier Quotes and Total Cost of Ownership information and recommends supplier selections based on a balance of both purchasing and program objectives.
  • Prepares information for new product program management and functional reviews.
  • Supports team members in multiple locations, including Columbus, Kent (UK), and Daventry (UK).
  • Assists sourcing managers in meeting purchasing deliverables for a new product program.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelors' degree in Supply Chain Management or a related business field is required.
  • 3-5 years related experience required - Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Materials Management, etc.
  • Proficient experience working in MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, formulas) and PowerPoint is required.
  • Project Management: Has a good understanding of and effectively applies project management techniques in low to moderately complex projects.
  • Financial Analysis: Applies financial analysis as part of their work. Has more than one year
  • experience with analyzing financial data. Understands what data is needed for an analysis and is
  • able to gather relevant data. Is able to draw conclusion from analysis and effectively communicate
  • the results with limited assistance.
  • Analyze Issues: Solid understanding of how to analyze issues. Demonstrates use of analysis skills to learn and analyze information in a timely way. Understands complex concepts and problems and identifies how they relate to key processes. Applies accurate logic in solving problems. Differentiates what is critical and what is important while not getting bogged down in details.
  • Information Security: Awareness proficiency plus experience in information security including having developed and implemented an information security plan.
  • Contract Development: Has completed at least one legal contract that is the standard terms and conditions with a scope, statement of work and performance metrics directly from the previous contract, provided by the current supplier or the functional owner; engagement and oversight by functional director or legal counsel is significant.
  • Purchasing Ethics: Understands that employees should abstain from any supplier engagement that may compromise supplier sourcing, selection, and management processes but I am not always clear what is appropriate. I know where to find clarifying resources.
  • Sourcing strategy Development: Understands and applies determined strategies. Uses the skill and knowledge appropriately. Has been involved in strategy development and discussions regarding market influences and impacts. Trained regarding corporate guidelines. Creates draft strategies at an entity level.
Additional information from the manager:
  • This position is a request to help cover a maternity leave within this group. The manager is looking for this hire to start in time for them to sit with and train with the individual going out on leave. There will also be a transition period or handoff back to the person returning from leave.
  • This is a Monday – Friday 40 hour per week position with working hours of 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
  • When the manager is ready to interview, depending on the number of candidates received, manager will first look to hold phone screens. Candidates whom successfully complete the phone screen will be invited to come in for an on-site interview.
