Our client, a leading biopharmaceutical company is looking for an Associate Scientist. This is for an initial duration of 36 months and is located in Thousand Oaks, CA
Top Skill Sets:

  • The successful applicant to this largely laboratory-based position will be responsible for experimental execution and effectively partnering across the forensic network team on driving investigational work.
  • The applicant will need to understand and apply state of the art analytical technology for assessing and identifying unexpected (e.g. foreign particulates) materials (e.g. organic, inorganic, and biological in nature) that may arise during process development, clinical, and commercial manufacturing operations.
  • In addition, support for forensic investigational work that may arise during stability programs and/or for clinical or commercial products in-use may be expected.
  • The ability to participate on root cause analysis with team members and effectively communicate scientific results with partners across a global network is expected.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Master's degree & 5 years of scientific experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree & 10 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for the timely documentation, presentation, and discussion of scientific results in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively adjust communication altitude
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyse and interrogate various analytical data sets to drive and influence the forensic investigational process
  • Demonstrated ability on approaches for root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to propose and lead new scientific imperatives/initiatives
  • Experience in an investigational laboratory setting within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company
  • Strong understanding and experience on wet chemistry and sample handling
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience across a range of chromatographic (e.g. HPLC) and spectroscopic (e.g. vibrational, chemometrics, MS) tools
  • Experience in working closely with scientific and manufacturing disciplines across process development, clinical, and commercial operations
