Job Description:
 
  • The Communications Specialist will be responsible for supporting communications initiatives for pharmaceutical client with a focus on the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. As a member of the corporate communications team, the specialist will partner closely with the internal communications manager to ensure strategic alignment and assist in implementing key program tactics for CSR and other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to environmental policy, procedures, and supports department environmental objectives.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • List 4-10 of the major end results the position is to accomplish and show approximate percentage of time devoted to each. Describe in terms of broad responsibilities rather than specific tasks.
  • Build and implement new contributions strategy and process for pharmaceutical client (10% time)
  • Process all Pharmaceutical client cash contributions utilizing GIFTS system and manage budget allocated (40% time)
  • Execute projects as required for CSR key programs assigned by Internal Communications Senior Manager (30%)
  • Write/edit online content, including intranet and social (10% time)
  • 501c(3) organization management-assist with application support, respond in a timely manner to inquiries, follow up with organizations as needed (5% time)
  • Focus employee engagement around our two signature initiatives, Sight for Kids and Cure for blindness. Make it fun and easy for employees to take part in our CSR efforts- elevating our initiatives to a true global team effort.
  • Community Event Kit request management/Info. displays on campus requests (5% time)
 
 
Qualifications
 
Minimum education required for competent performance:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism or other relevant field.
  • Minimum experience (number of month/years and type of work experience beyond formal education) required for competent performance:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience focused on employee or functional communications in a fast-paced corporate environment. Superb writing and editing skills and a strong sense of narrative and story -telling. A high-level of professional integrity and ability to handle sensitive issues and situations with discretion. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities and deliver high quality communications under tight deadlines. A proactive 'get it done' attitude.
  • Volume or unit measure of job duties: (List the volume of those duties which are repetitive in nature. For example, 75 customer phone calls per day, 20 boxes packed per day, etc.)
  • Approximately 20 community contributions requests to process per quarter, four intranet stories per month, four social posts per month, four transparency reports to validate for external posting on pharmaceutical client giving activities per year, a minimum of one internet update per month, approximately two CSR employee engagement activities per year.
 
Equipment usage and abilities needed:
 
  • Savvy computer usage to include experience in Microsoft Office and SharePoint. Previous experience in community giving/contributions processing a plus. Ability to act appropriately as liaison between organization and pharmaceutical client is a must.
