One of a kind opportunity for a MOTION PRODUCT SPECIALIST to join a locally owned and operated automation company in south Dayton.  The ideal candidate will have an engineering degree and be both mechanically and electrically inclined, with a strong aptitude with a variety of software packages (Step7, TIA Portal, WinCC, Sizer, Starter, Startdrive, Motioneering, Scout, Motion Analyzer, etc.)  The Motion Specialist will provide both pre-sale and post-sale support to the sales staff and customers by specifying and implementing servos, VFDs, and mechanical components in motion control systems.  He/She needs to be a self-starter and enjoy interacting with a variety of individuals.

Pre-Sales Support
  • Provide technical sales expertise in pre-sale situations to determine and communicate customer requirements
  • Provide product demonstrations at customer sites.
  • Conduct educational seminars.
  • Determine, along with the sales representative, whether or not the customer will need to bring in 3rd party support for machine implementation.
Component Selection
  • Determine appropriate Motion Control system architectures suitable to the customer's needs.
  • Provide sizing of servo systems (motors and drives)
  • Provide sizing of VFD systems (motors and drives)
  • Provide sizing of mechanical components for motion control (actuators and gearboxes)
  • Assist customers in conceptualizing solutions for their machines
  • Understand machine design and control and apply the company's products in order to implement solutions to meet the customer's needs.
Provide post-sale start-up assistance
  • Provide template code and on-site and phone start-up assistance for the customer's champion.
  • Provide product training for the customer.
  1. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals and information.
  2. Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers and effectively present information to groups.
  3. Experience with Siemens motion control is a plus.
  • A college degree in an Engineering related field (BSEE or BSEET preferred) is highly desirable, but for the right candidate, this can be supplemented by 4-6 years related experience and/or training.
  • Mechanically and electrically inclined and experienced in motion control applications; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
