Electrical & Controls Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Work in an on-site manufacturing environment to support plant operations & engineering initiatives through the following activities:
  • Hardware & software engineering for new & retrofit industrial projects & electrical systems including low voltage (600 VAC) power distribution, network communications, line control & motion control
  • Programming, design & updating of PLC, HMI, VFD & Servo Motion related projects from hardware design, software integration through construction support & project start up
  • Specification of components to achieve client requests
  • Modifications or upgrades to existing control systems as specified by the client
  • Direct designer level resources
  • Work simultaneously on multiple project & client teams
  • Provide installation & start up support, could include nights & weekends
  • Work directly with client to resolve conflicts & strengthen the Client relationship
Electrical & Controls Engineer Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical experience
  • 7+ years of recent experience with specifying, installing & troubleshooting machine & process controls systems
  • 5+ years of recent experience with the following:
    • Allen Bradley Control-Logix, Compact-Logix & PLC5 Rockwell software
    • HMI programming (PanelBuilder or RSViewME)
    • Low voltage (up to 600 VAC) power distribution systems with exposure to facilities electrical systems including: HVAC, lighting, power, communications, security, fire, supervisory systems, transformers, panel boards, grounding systems, capacitor banks, etc.
    • Ethernet and/or ControlNet communications
    • VFD & Motor Selection / Integration
    • NEC/NFPA 79 Electrical Standards
Electrical & Controls Engineer Expectations:
  • Travel as required (domestic and/or international - approximately 35%) for field work and/or other client/business objectives

Electrical & Controls Engineer Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (registration in CA) or ability to obtain within 24 months of start date
  • 5+ years of industry-relevant experience (papermaking and/or paper converting process)
  • Allen Bradley Control-Logix and/or Compact-Logix Safety PLC programming and procedures
  • Safety Integrity Level (SIL) rating and design, including:
    • Implementing the ISA84 (IEC 61511) standard
    • Selecting Safety Integrity Levels (SILs) for Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) using a variety of techniques
    • Specifying & selecting safety instrumented systems
  • Previous recent experience with the following:
    • Rockwell variable frequency & servo drive
    • Distributed Controls Systems (DCS)
    • Client Experion configuration / Programming
    • Additional HMI / Historian Product programming experience (Wonder Ware, Intellution, Proficy)
    • PackML programming
    • Database programming (SQL, RS-SQL, MS Access)
    •, XML. Visual Basic, VB.NET and/or Visual C language proficiency
    • Motor Control Center (MCC) specification & design
    • Medium voltage (up to 15 kV) power distribution systems
    • Robotics
    • Vision Systems
    • Networking
    • Hazardous area classification
