Full Stack Developer (Big Data)

We are seeking a Full Stack Developer to turn our technology into a platform for builders to create applications. In order to that we need facilities for those builders to manage their data, users and workload.

With more than 25 trillion rows of data in our private cloud, our platform designed to scale to the largest volumes of granular data, the most disparate and varied data sets, and the most complex advanced analytics. All while delivering lightning-quick system performance.

We are so successful because we are the fastest. The fastest. We are already working on superfast computers and need you to make them faster; migrate our existing Windows fleet to Linux while obsessing over performance optimization.

You will be developing adaptive distributed system software and high-speed communication system software to support high-performance distributed computing (HPDC) applications. If it's not fast, we are not interested.

If you are passionate about hardware and software you will work with top of the line products to will improve our performance. Our engineers possess a unique mix of programming and systems expertise who love solving problems most don't like to think about.

Experience in a specific programming language is not required; however the right person knows how to program and will learn new languages quickly.

Overall you should have a strong, general knowledge of technical infrastructure and how and why things work together. You should also demonstrate a solid, analytical thought process in response to challenges or problems.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop new features and fix bugs on our Big Data platform
  • Develop new infrastructure and middleware for big data storage and retrieval
  • Develop administrative interfaces to our Big Data platform
  • Scale and test infrastructure for performance and availability
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
  • STEM degree from top tier university preferred; Mathematics, Statics oriented and HPDC course work highly desired
  • Demonstrated ability to build (ideally Big Data) applications from scratch
  • Experience in HPC
  • Rotational work after hours or weekends.
Skills:
  • Web technologies - HTML, JavaScript, CSS
  • Server side technologies - Application servers, databases and middleware
  • Solid understanding of algorithms and complexity
  • Systems analysis and performance tuning; debugging familiar with tools such as Valgrind to optimize code, memory use performance etc.
  • Familiarity with Functional/Vector programming including (K/Q/KDB, Lisp/Scheme, APL)
  • Software engineering for business continuity, high availability and disaster recovery
Management requirements:
  • Previous management experience is not necessary for this position but there is opportunity for growth and advancement.
